      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

      -MannDude

  1. It's the nature of the beast in Ohio. when I started my quest I gave up after the first 15 or so inquiries like you said you cant get a straight answer from them. Looks like things have not changed.
  2. Having a hard time with Lantronix

Just had this issue with a Super micro IPMI (Can't write key code) it wont run on java 8 updating the firmware should fix that issue. in our case it an old supermicro with no firmware updates any longer so we had to use the IPMI 2 software. For the rrrrooottt issue as Wintereise said it requires stable internet connection. it does the same for me when I use a crappy ISP and or my cell phone :)

  5. a Few years back looked for small colo in Ohio to facilitate a clients request it was slim pickens I don't think any of them offered 1U But I will admit I did not go through the whole list. the BW pricing at the time was atrocious. It may have changed since then it was a while ago. what do you mean by "utility billed" like servicing ? http://www.datacentermap.com/usa/ohio/
  6. Finally someone who can actually read a law. If a crime syndicate crosses boarders then use interpol it was enacted for just such situations. Boo hoo " law enforcement efforts would be seriously impeded" I thought it the US you were considered innocent until proven guilty if the data is that important stored on foreign soil that it would enhance a criminal case then get the proper warrants within that country.
  7. ColoCrossing threatens to sue vpsBoard

Late to the party But looking at IN Law the the Statutes of limitations has ran out so tell them to pound sand. You have proof in the post CVPS_Chris A CC employee commented on the post January 27, 2014 I'm sure they can find a sleazy lawyer to take their money and hassle you so if they do I will donate to the Man dude legal fund
  8. I have noticed this flaw many times and did not think much about it (the Kansas one) . If I noticed almost immediately why couldn't law enforcement DUH. At any-rate it should not have been like that in the first place they should jut put the coordinates at the North or south pole or would Law enforcement make a special trip to arrest Santa Clause (for the north pole) :)

  14. USA vps host for sale - huge clientbase

... ahhh are you expecting owned IPv4 addresses too? :) YES YES YES if not it not worth squat If you acquired the host an moved it to you own infrastructure you would burn almost a /22 even on the low end side of leasing IP's you would make more just leasing the blocks out than this host makes so its worth negative dollars :( But you can buy rent say an Incero box with a /24 @ $200 a month.... You need another oh 3 more /24's to hit that /22... that's like meh $180 more... $380 a month x 12 = $4560 vs. raw income of $5k~.... $400 spread optimistically / 12 months = $33.33. Now that's profit give or take a $20. $33 to deal with botnets & abuse I think I will stick with the berries
