      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

      -MannDude

  2. Servers in unusual locations

That sounds quite bad. Hope to improve your situation, or at least build some intranets like in Cuba, where at least the whole country is connected within.
  3. Tesla Model 3 Officially Unveiled!

Well most of them are Suzuki, and obscure models that were destined only for the Japanese Market.
  4. I would not buy any servers, just make a nice looking website, increase marketing/SEO/advertising on it, and when customers come, make sure you have a few reseller accounts on bigger providers on which you will buy the dedicated server and resell it as VPS. But seriously, 10.000 usd is a low amount that doesn't do any justice for you and most likely will get you nowhere.
  5. Tesla Model 3 Officially Unveiled!

I do not think that 35k is a decent price for the majority of users. I would rather go with smaller city cars for a price of maximum 10k, but I do not think that is possible within 10 years. Look at the Japan market and the so called Kei Car, you can find them as low as 1k usd. If that could be done with electric cars, that would really give them a boost.
  6. SCP is the way to go. On windows I use WinSCP but it is so much slower.
  7. Servers in unusual locations

Can you tell me what is the hosting market in Ethiopia? I am interested in hearing from a local more about the African hosting market. If you have a website that is addressed to the local market, what hosting providers do you go to usually?
  8. If you have sensitive content, why would you use wordpress, which is known to have a lot of issues? I think all of them should have used more secure platforms.
  9. Servers in unusual locations

I wonder why the hosting market is so bad in South and Central America. I think that with all that population there, they would have a more competitive market.
  10. What happens when there are no more ipv4 addresses left?

Looking forward when the world will adopt IPv6 on a wide scale. I feel that the prices that are charged now (speaking as a provider) are not really worth it.
  11. You're all doing it wrong.

I think that is one of the main issues with the hosting companies nowadays. They are full of people that do not have the proper skills to run such a company. At the first problem they encounter they will spam the forums or if they are resellers, spam the provider with requests to solve their issues. You do not go to war without a sword, so make sure to get one.
