      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

      -MannDude

  2. VPS Reseller (custom plans) or Resource Pool VPS

Hey Asim, You might have better luck finding a great deal if you don't need a reseller package. For example, we have negotiated prices way down for clients that are planning on purchasing more than 3 VPSes at once. Plus, asking for a reseller/resource-pool severely limits your provider pool. I would be more than happy to discuss your needs and get you a good price, but at this time we do not do reseller accounts or resource-pools. All the best, John McCarthy Inertia Networks
  3. Backup Software

Yeah, issue with command line is you can't monitor status of the backup. That link seems promising, however.
  4. Backup Software

I'm currently using Duplicati, per @texteditor's recommendation. The only flaw with it is it can not run as a Windows service... With CloudBacko, does the user have to be logged in, or does it run regardless. The file server I have reboots every week, and Duplicati does not work unless I log in after the updates each week.
  5. Backup Software

Hi all, I'm looking for a way to back up a local Windows file server to an offsite SFTP server. Specifically, I am looking for the following features: - Not just mounting the offside server as a drive, because some viruses target network drives as well. - Backups only sync changes, and does not have to re-upload all the contents every backup time. - If I delete a file, I can still restore it after the next backup has ran. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
  6. Accounting Software

I was looking at Odoo today. Very nice software, but you have to buy a min of 5 users ($1500/yr). Quite the jump from QB. Xero looks nice, but their bank feeds seem to function in a different way, in which they need to have an agreement with your bank in order to use it. (Instead of downloading a file into QB) Still something to look into, thanks for the suggestion.
  7. Accounting Software

I'm looking to move away from QuickBooks Pro to something a bit more open, and I'd like to hear your suggestions! Invoicing and client management are not needed, I am just looking for something to put expenses into categories and track income. I love the bank feeds feature of QuickBooks because I do not have to type every transaction in manually. I am looking for something that can support that as well. Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. Linux CCTV / camera / security cobblers here?

I'm currently using ZoneMinder, but I have found it takes up way more CPU than commercial software. I have 5 cameras running at 25 FPS, with a 1920x1080 resolution, and on a 4 core i5 ZoneMinder can barely keep up. Reducing the FPS to 12 seems to help. Overall, ZoneMinder is very good for open source, but I wouldn't expect to work all too well on any machine without very good processing power.
