      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

  3. KVM VS OpenVZ

You would be correct, We opt to use KVM due to the handling of resources by the Hypervisor that gets passed onto the Virtual Machines are more responsive compared to OpenVZ. You will also find if you do some further research there was a lot of security issues with the OpenVZ platform also, which has added to the preference of using KVM by many. Tom
  4. The cesspit / chat thread.

Hahahaha quite possibly the best quote ever! It's certainly going to be an interesting wait until after january when he is sworn in. What will his agenda be?... The implications could be catastrophic... or he could back flip big time? but only time will tell!
  5. Not a problem at all :) It's always good to see new projects!! You could always try adding the ability to plugin to SMS Gateways API's. That way the user has the account with the SMS provider and you don't need to manage it at all. I have used the following SMS providers before. smsglobal.com clicksend.com & tropo.com All have API documentation available on their websites. Hope this helps :)
  6. Having a hard time with Lantronix

Have you tried using a different operating system to attempt connection to the Spider? I had major issues with Windows and Java not liking the Lantronix equipment but they work perfectly fine on my Mac with Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers. Tom
  7. Looks like a great project @risharde! I will definitely have to test it out. Is there any notification features yet? ie. email, sms? Thanks, Tom
  8. X3host problem

It's never good when sites are down @vidladdie! The x3host site seems to be up for me & can also be checked here http://downforeveryone.com/x3host.com/ Have you tried contacting them via email or maybe even @X3host might be able to assist on here :) Hope this helps !
  9. Is VPS ok to host a game server?

In my experience Dedicated Hardware is always best for Gaming Server. This also means that contention ratios are not an issue in peak times and you eliminate the chances of getting your resources throttled.
  10. looking for new host

Hi Benny_D, Can you provide some more information for us. Where abouts is your business based? Currently where are most of your visitors per day coming from? There's obviously no point hosting your e-Commerce Shop in the USA when all of your Customers are in Europe or Asia (or Australia). Tom
