      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

  1. Selling WHMCS Owned License

Do you own the license? Yes Is the license older than 90 days? Yes DId you purchase the license directly from WHMCS? Yes Type: Owned License w/ Branding Signup Date: 22nd Aug 2012 Status: Active I am looking to sell my whmcs owned branded license (currently expired), as I am currently not using it. I am asking $100 for it ($20 transfer fee in the price). Permission to sell is already in place, you can reference ticket #YKT-347721 with them.
  2. So, I was watching a stream on twitch that I'm a mod in and some random person comes in and offers a free minecraft server saying his host is http://fluxxhostingdemo.byethost8.com/ and later on skype claims that he has run sowehost.co.uk for several years. Based on the research i have done, that appears to be false, and the website is offline, oh and he claims they are "rebranding" to fluxxhosting. Has anyone heard or does know of anything about sowehost.co.uk?
  3. vpsBoard Top Providers of 2014 voting.

Crissic - 2 They have top notch service, Skylar goes above and beyond, they even support open source projects which is a plus. GoodHosting.co - 2 Also supportive of open source projects, they have good uptime, and friendly support. Vultr - 1 I am voting for Vultr over digitalocean because when you compare features, Vultr has more locations, you have the option to have custom iso files uploaded, and finally, you can multiple ip addresses to a vm.
  4. I don't know why, but recently law enforcement has not been doing their jobs. And this case is defiently one of those cases where has law enforcement done their job properly, it might have been avoided all together. When you read about it, you will see that law enforcement failed the family multiple times. In Michigan, a Plymouth teen is being charged as an adult in a murder plot. Recently the adults of that teen spoke out about it. There was an exclusive interview, you can read about it here: http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/parents-in-plymouth-teen-murder-plot-speak-out/30120586 Having read the article, it looks like it is a case that could have been prevented had law enforcement done their jobs and stepped in earlier. It is a sad case, but it is good to see that the parents want her prosecuted as a juvenile so she can get the help she needs. There is a petition to have the daughter charged as a juvenile: https://www.change.org/p/kym-worthy-charge-15-year-old-roksana-sikorski-as-a-juvenile
  5. What browser are you using?

I use Firefox for everything. and occasionally use Chrome for development. Don't even get me started on IE, it is the devil - I avoid it at all costs :D.
  6. I'm hoping to grab some cheap vps's on cyber Monday, and maybe even a rhaspberry pi. After all one can never have too many vps machines laying around. So, who is doing yearly vps deals cyber Monday?
  7. IRC Tipbot

The bot does stay quiet unless directly addressed by a human. It only responds to a few specific commands such as ".tip 100", ".soak 100". You try it in #doge-coin. Ment to say civilized.
  8. IRC Tipbot

Since appearently some people on irc don't like bots. Lets have a nice civilized discussion on allowing an irc tipbot in the #vpsboard irc channel. If you don't know what an irc tip bot is, basically it is a bot that allows you to do tips, soaks, etc. I think that it would make the channel more fun, and it would encourage more participation in the irc channel. As some people (not naming names), don't like any bots, lets discuss this as I would like to know why they don't like the idea of allowing an irc tip bot.
  9. goodhosting.co support dead?

Firstly, they don't provision a vps, they allot resources for you to do it. You may find this helpful in setting up the vps: https://freevps.us/thread-13566.html They are normally very good about answering support tickets, the owner was on Skype the other day.
  10. Because it's not safe to keep all your eggs in one place. Do some research, you will find that using online wallets is not recommend. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=346117.0 That's on the reseller, not you :). Only thing you could do is terminate services if it becomes a frequent issue.
  11. Wordpress alternatives?

Last I checked, Namecheap didn't have phone support.
  12. Reliable WHOIS Library/API

We have an opensource solution on github. You can find it at https://github.com/whoisdoma/core, if you use it, you will need whoisdoma/installer. All you have to do is generate an api key, and add the whois servers. Or, if you would like we can generate you an api key so you can query our api servers. If you decide you want to go this route, you can reach us at [email protected]
  13. Might get a shared plan. Any chance we would be able to use composer commands and laravel? http://laravel.com/docs/quick https://getcomposer.org/doc/00-intro.md#locally Edit: mainly like the dedicated ip for ssl ;), too good an offer to pass up.
  14. Have you looked into Lighttpd? It's open source like apache so you don't have to worry about tos like with litespeed. You might want to look into the benchmarks some, test them on a development vps. http://www.lighttpd.net/benchmark/
  15. I'm surprised anyone still uses IE, it's had 275 vulnerabilities, and 53 this year so far. I will just use this fix Thanks techrepublic for telling the public how to fix it :) http://www.techrepublic.com/article/microsoft-releases-patch-for-newest-ie-bug/And besides, who needs IE when you have better browsers like Firefox.
