      Current state of vpsBoard   02/04/2017

      Dear vpsBoard members and guests:

      Over the last year or two vpsBoard activity and traffic has dwindled. I have had a change of career and interests, and as such am no longer an active member of the web hosting industry.

      Due to time constraints and new interests I no longer wish to continue to maintain vpsBoard. The web site will remain only as an archive to preserve and showcase some of the great material, guides, and industry news that has been generated by members, some of which I remain in contact to this very day and now regard as personal friends.

      I want to thank all of our members who helped make vpsBoard the fastest growing industry forum. In it's prime it was an active and ripe source of activity, news, guides and just general off-topic banter and fun.

      I wish all members and guests the very best, whether it be with your business or your personal projects.

Well I did not need support yet.

 

Overall experience:

You get a lot for what you pay. I am a happy customer. You can trust the slogan "we are fast" - the vps does have a really fast SSD-based I/O. It was my fastest Ruby compile I have ever seen on an OpenVZ vps. Seattle does have good routings to Atlanta, NY, Chicago, Austin, etc. too. Ping to europe is about 160ms.

I am on node SEASVZ5.

I do have the SSD-cached based vps (Atlanta) for about 4 months and the SSD based vps (Seattle) for one day.

Title says 128MB SSD but review is actually about 256MB SSD-Cached.

 

I have Ramnode's 128MB SSD-Cached and it works fine, it does what I'd expect from a small VPS, and it's quite the bargain with the 35%-off coupon, given the 50GB of disk space.

 

I also have the 128MB pure SSD plan and that's something else again.  It's by far the most responsive VPS that I've ever used.  It doesn't have those little pauses when you access a file that you haven't used in a while.  I'm not currently running any databases or web servers with nontrivial workload from VPS's, but by now I'd certainly only run those from pure-SSD plans unless storage requirements made that unfeasible.  As the saying goes, flash is disk, disk is tape, tape is dead.

 

I actually got the SSD plan on impulse when there was an unusually good coupon, but it (for now) has cured my VPS addiction, at least to non-SSD plans.

RamNode is quite the provider. I have tested their service and very impressed. We may have to start offering SSD VPS' in the near future, seems to excite many. Thanks for the review and the above detail, I'm sure many here appreciate your time.

They've got a (really) good operation going over at RamNode.

 

I currently have two VPSs with them (1x 512MB OpenVZ SSD-Cached and 1x 512MB KVM SSD-Cached :P)

 

I host websites and whatever else I want off of them and it works great for all intensive purposes. I also frequent (That's an understatement) their IRC chats.

Support:

Not a single support ticket needed.

 

Overall experience:

I enjoy my vps in Seattle. No hassles, no downtimes, no support needed and fast and solid routings to the west.

It is my US based IRC bouncer and is hosting some sites of friends in Oregon and Wyoming.

All I can say is can't go wrong with RamNode.  I think I have 2 128's and a 256 KVM in SEA  right now and the only negative thing I can say is sometimes I notice very low transfer speeds (100KB/s) between SEA <-> ATL, but it's not a constant problem and doesn't bother me enough to have to submit a support ticket.

 

Thanks to RamNode for being the first LEB provider in SEA to provide native IPv6!  SolusVM needs to support Private Networking again, but I can't blame RamNode for that, or can I?..

Performance is stellar, uptime beyond any concerns and the network is good too - still want to have more available bandwith but it is not that slow either.

We know the story about the upstream provider and after Nick resolved this the performance of the network was and is  getting better.

      Hi ,this is my review on hudsonvalleyhost.com  , two months ago i got a managed VPS from them and here is my results :    - first ,there entire IP range is blacklisted on Spamhaus SBL , not for sending SPAM but for sending ALL kinds of viruses and malware ,as Spamhaus said  here :  https://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/query/SBL228367    means that ,ALL emails coming from there ip's will be marked as SPAM (even if they are not ) and even ALL domains hosted on there ip's will be blacklisted too . the funny thing is that you cannot do anything about it ,because hudsonvalleyhost have to contact spamhaus directly ,and you have nothing to do with that .   - second , there sales team said that they allow email marketing activities on the server ,but , after i paid for it ,the support team said NO they do not allow email marketing on there servers ,and guess what ,they don't offer a refund too .   so ,basically i paid for the VPS ,spend more than 300 $ to setup my mailer and finally i got a blacklisted ip's with a very bad customer support and no refund .   this hosting provider is a wast of time and money ,so ,buyers BE AWARE !!!

      So it has almost been a year since I have been with Cloudshards. So here's my experience with them: 
       
      I've heard a lot of good things about Cloudshards and the prices are really amazing so I decided to spin up a 2GB OpenVZ with them on 27/03/2014. As of now, I have 2 VPS with Cloudshards and they are working really great. Although the company name has the word 'cloud' in it, Cloudshards doesn't provide Cloud Hosting services yet. 
       
      Uptime: 10/10
       
      So far, no downtime in terms of both network and hardware. They have some downtime once every few months due to scheduled network maintenance or upgrade but they gave a good window of 3 to 5 days before carrying it out so that all the customers will be well prepared for the scheduled downtime. 
       
      Network: 10/10
       
      Their network connectivity worldwide has very low latency and is really superb! Connectivity to Asia was especially great and I've gotten only 160ms from Singapore. :)

      Their support team replied within 4 hours and they read through my issues carefully. I've once experienced unreliable network connectivity and opened a support ticket with them.       I spun up a few VPS with lots of RAM and they only cost $7 for 2GB. For the price and service offered, it is a really great deal! They also offer KVM storage with lots of space and it is very affordable too. I've also asked for a customized upgrade from 2GB to 4GB and they did so without much hesitation. 
       
      Overall, their VPS offer very smooth performance with great network speeds and latency at really affordable price.

      CPU ok, I/O ok and a good network connection.
      Did not have to send a single ticket.

      Update status:

      3 hours 29 minutes 35 seconds of network downtime since the first month.
      The node did have some rough times during the first weeks, network itself does have some spikes but is quite solid. Hoping for some calm weeks.
      Uptime of the vps itself is 30 days.
      CPU and I/O are ok.
      Network is good within the EU.

      I will refresh the uptime report every two months.
