New DoS Protection System!

All Versaweb dedicated servers are now protected by our basic DoS Protection system. This new system, developed exclusively for Versaweb, actively monitors our entire network for DoS attacks.  When an attack is detected, our system will automatically export a null route to our upstream bandwidth providers, stopping the attack in it’s tracks.  Only traffic destined for the IP being attacked is dropped, thereby protecting the rest of our network.

For users that need a greater level of protection, we also offer Enterprise DoS Protection + Mitigation.  Powered by BlackLotus, our Enterprise DoS Protection offers full mitigation of attacks up to 10Gbps peak / 2Gbps sustained, keeping your site or application running even during an attack.

Add Enterprise Protection Powered By BlackLotus to any server - Only $39 per month!

(protects up to 10Gbps burst, 2Gbps sustained attacks)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do you have a test IP?

Las Vegas - 199.47.210.50

Seattle - 76.164.234.1

Q: Do you have a download test file?

Las Vegas - http://199.47.210.50/100mbtest.bin

Seattle - Coming Soon

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept most major credit cards (Visa, MC, Discover, Amex) as well as Paypal payments. We also accept wire transfer payments for amounts over $500.

Q: How soon will my server be online after my order is placed?

A: Once your order is verified by our billing department, your server will normally be online within 1-2 business days - in many cases, we will even have your server up the same day. Please note that if your server is ordered with upgrades, like additional disks, memory, RAID controllers, or other special configuration options, it can take a little longer.

Q: Can I upgrade my server?

A: Yes! Please see our order form for available options and pricing. If you do not see what you need on our order form, please contact our sales dept. and we'll do our best to come up with a custom configuration for you. We also offer discounted licensing for many popular control panels such as cPanel, Plesk, Interworx, and DirectAdmin.

Q: Can I get more IP addresses with my server?

A: All of our servers are deployed with either 4 or 5 usable IP addresses, depending on the particular configuration. If you need more IP addresses, you can order them via our website once your initial order has been completed and your server is online. We do require justification per ARIN guidelines for all IP allocations. We allow a maximum of a /25 per server (125 IP's).

Please feel free to contact our sales dept via email at sales [at] versaweb (dot) com with any questions you might have.

Thanks, and have a great day!

In that case we'd likely route the /24(s) being attacked across our Enterprise Mitigation system temporarily to have them filtered, assuming that no single IP was seeing enough attack traffic to trigger our null route system.  That's one of the benefits of our 2-tiered approach, is that we aren't reliant upon a single source for protection.

Luckily we've not yet run into that type of attack, but we are aware of it as a possible issue and have plans in place to mitigate them.

Hi Rob. You need to specify the actual DC/Provider in use as well as the location :)

My recommendation: order additional IPs with the original order, or as soon as you place it, if you will need them. Otherwise, you may be waiting over 1 week for a small block.

I found this a bit of a pain, as well as the attitude of some of their tech support employees.

Maybe things have changed.. it's been a long while since I've used them. :)

Edit:

IP Request: November 26th

IPs allocated: December 2nd (no ticket update between dates)

IP Request: December 13th

IPs allocated: December 21st (no ticket update between dates)

Request to set rDNS (this has to be done manually): About 3.5 days. I guess this was due to one holiday, but seems unusual to not have any techs online 24x7 (holidays, nights, weekends).

Disclaimer: I was a customer of Versaweb in 2013 and this wasn't meant as a hate message against them - just giving my warnings / review to any future customers taking advantage of this deal.  :)

@Rob: could you provide more information about Seattle. It will attract Asian customers. Your deal is really good.

I see a lot of the US providers do sub-delegation where they'll delegate even a /29? Not possible with them?

I think you can purchase a /29, sure. Rob T will probably update the thread and let us know.

If I order from the order page you linked it's not clear which DC the service will be deployed from. How do I specify the location?

So I signed up for one of the E3 v3 offers on the 7th. It was deployed promptly and the only query I had made during ordering was resolved quickly. Everything was fine till today when I experienced a 44 minute outage with no updates or communication from VersaWeb about the cause. I have a ticket waiting now for an explanation but my server was also rebooted during this time so I am not sure what occurred...

Hope the stability gets better.

I think you may have been effected by power maintenance.  https://www.facebook.com/quickpacket/posts/10152403130706624

Maybe Versaweb didn't mention it like QuickPacket did?

It's likely that something happened related to the high temperatures in the data center during the maintenance.  Temperatures spiked in our cabinet for over 3 hours.

Are they in the same DC? I wasn't aware of it... Either way Versaweb didn't mention it.

Yes, our Las Vegas gear is in the Fiberhub data center.

They responded to my ticket basically saying they cannot explain the outage and didn't mention the power outage in the DC at all. I am pursuing it further but will likely cancel the service now after this experience... I am not happy with a supplier if they cannot or will not explain an outage at all.
