About us:

RamNode is an unmanaged VPS provider focused on high performance systems and excellent customer service. We pride ourselves on our friendliness, consistency, and efficiency.

We are currently looking to fill a full time Level 1/2 remote Support Tech position. Applicants should be located in the US or Canada and able to work from 11 AM to 8 PM eastern M-F. Schedule flexibility is required for rare, urgent situations outside of these hours. Personal and professional accountability in our staff members is of utmost importance to us.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be focused on customer service with a drive to resolve each support request in a timely, friendly, and satisfactory manner. Consistency is key.
  • Must write and speak excellent English. Email, tickets, and IRC chats are our main forms of communication. Clear communication is a must.
  • Must be familiar with Unix shell, CentOS, Ubuntu, cPanel/WHM, WHMCS, SolusVM, DNS, Supermicro IPMI, and other common hosting-related services.
  • Must have a solid understanding of and familiarity with OpenVZ and KVM virtualization.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a multi-tasking environment. Needing to keep track of two or three things at a time is common.
  • Must be able to discern what additional information a customer may need to provide when requesting troubleshooting help and when to escalate issues to higher level staff.
Job Requirements:
  • Handling support/sales requests sent via tickets in WHMCS and in our community IRC channel. We are unmanaged, but we do offer support for network, hardware, and OS issues. Basic virtualziation troubleshooting is involved.
  • Processing orders based on pattern recognition and existing protocol.
  • Handling abuse reports for spam, phishing, etc.
  • Monitoring systems with NodePing, Cacti, Nagios, Graphite, etc. and taking quick, appropriate action when necessary. Ability to respond quickly is key.
  • Investigating network issues at a basic level (i.e., using common tools such as MTR to determine location of packet loss).
  • Communicating with management staff as needed to ensure clients receive the most efficient service possible.
Pay will be monthly and will depend on experience.
We are only hiring in house - outsourcing companies should not apply.
