Record-breaking 1Tbps Speed [..]

New Generations usually bring new base technologies, more network capacity for more data per user, and high speed Internet service, for which Internet service providers usually advertise. However, it is believed that the fifth generation (5G Technology) of mobile network will be beyond our thoughts.

1TBPS OVER 5G

Security researchers from the University of Surrey have just achieved Record-Breaking data speeds during a recent test of 5G wireless data connections, achieving an incredible One Terabit per second (1Tbps) speed – many thousands of times faster than the existing 4G connections.

After 4G, 5G is the next generation of mobile communication technology that aims at offering far greater capacity and be faster, more energy-efficient and more cost-effective than anything that has seen before. The boffins say 5G will be different – very different.

The 5G test was conducted at the university's 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC), which was founded by a host of telecoms industry partners including Huawei, Fujitsu, Samsung, Vodafone, EE, Aircom, BT, Telefonica, Aeroflex, BBC and Rohde & Schwarz.

But...but....all the kid hosts on the minecraft forums claim OVH gives them 1Tbps DDOS protection!!

Whaa??? Probably 1 Mbps.
The minecraft hosting companies are more often than not extremely tech newbie. There has been many hosts that claim their 2 x 2TB 7200RPM drives in RAID1 is better than SSD nodes "because there's 2 drives". There's multiple that claim they have a fully custom, self built, fitlering solution yet they're just using OVH.

The rate of deadpooling in the minecraft communities is simply insane. Take LE before all the buyouts happened and double that and you'll probably be somewhat close.

How soon until we see this?  Devices, infrastructure ... there's a lot to upgrade before 1Tbps even makes sense.

10 years?

Hopefully we some increase nearer term.

But 3G is mostly toasted legacy and bad.  Older stuff still out there and dreadful.  4G working on saturation all over.

Industry wants micro cells all over the place at a ratio of like 1 cell to 20 customers or less.

Putting stuff closer by means higher reliability and throughput.  A good outcome.  But bathing people in localized high power stuff all over isn't sane for health and well being.

Upside to me is that will have fiber runs all over the place, so ideally more of us can tap such at reasonable rates.  Especially where incumbents, telcos, cable, etc. thinks dialup and ISDN speeds are still somehow acceptable.
