This isn't breaking news per se.  Happened back in 2014.   Details are what is breaking per se.


Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh "researchers" funded by the FBI allegedly were able to attack ToR network and collect real IPs and other data by setting up masses of exit nodes.


This approach isn't new.  I know I mentioned it years ago.  


Probably a lot more ongoing than just rogue exit nodes.

The same researchers hired to crack TrueCrypt? Keeping them busy and off the streets I guess.


EDIT: Possibly the wrong university. I can't find the article now. :(


EDIT2: Nevermind, right university wrong software (it was TOR). Heading to bed now. :(
