Oil and gas companies are big business, and in some places, big business is all about fracking. Huge corporations like ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and Valero Energy have spent millions of dollars trying to drill for oil off the coast of Canada in the name of the oil and gas industry. But the term 'fracking' itself is still very newly coined: The two companies that were drilling were keen to make sure they were using proper terminology.
