    DigitalOcean Planning UK Location

Amsterdam to London: 8ms-9ms NYC to Buffalo: 14ms-16ms tl;dr Amsterdam isn't that far latency-wise from the UK, there are locations in other parts of the world I'd rather see first.

    DD Script

Agreed about ioping tests, and if we want to take it a step farther, choosing a VPS provider based primarily on the "blazing fast" dd and ioping results the provider posted in their offer is equally pointless.

    Query Foundry, LLC acquires Fraphost

I first read it as FapHost but then I saw it was ex-hackforums advertiser/participant FrapHost.  I'm actually shocked FrapHost is still in business since it was obvious the "business" wasn't exactly a high priority for the old owner. He had an LEB offer in December and his WHMCS wasn't working...

    DD Script

Every 2 hours is bad! If you run the script during even hours and the abusers only abuse during odd hours you'll never know that the node you're on has dd speeds below 10 Mbps half the day! Solution: run it every hour!

Burstnet Technologies Inc. aka Burstnet lies, rips off landlord, refused to move out of Dunmore Data

Burst.net has been mediocre crap since it started so that's not necessarily a bad thing. Burst didn't start offering any  hosting services until late '96.  The company operated a computer retail store for the 1st 6 years and the registered corporate name until about '98 was Shawn's Trading Post...

As a customer, would you purchase from a provider that doesn't offer Paypal balance payments?

The customer has virtually no protection if something goes wrong when they pay for hosting services with PayPal because hosting services are virtual goods.  If a customer wants protection they should use a credit card.

    Gauging interest in new feature.

KiwiVM (BandwagonHost/VPSBlast/iT7) has a self-migration feature.  They don't impose any limitations on the number of migrations or frequency of migrations but they do use Nodewatch (developed by them) for general abuse curbing on their nodes.

Burstnet Technologies Inc. aka Burstnet lies, rips off landlord, refused to move out of Dunmore Data

Mark from Youmura (Delimiter) posted on LET a few days ago that he saw a document (I'm assuming it was a UCC) that Burst had a $975K line of credit that was secured against the DC in Dunsmore...if anyone can find a copy of that UCC... edit: Allegedly in default to Burst but no documents (or...

    No Disparagement Clauses

...and not all employment contract non-disparagement clauses are unforceable or legal either.  A Quicken Loans employee filed a complaint with the The National Labor Relations Board last year and a judge ruled that a non-disparagement clause (as well as a non disclosure clause) in Quicken Loans...

ColoCrossing, Quick to Get Large IP Blocks Issued and Faster to Soil Them

Smart move but I wouldn't wait for the end of the year. . :) That's due to your association with CC (i.e. you use their IPs) and because several of the spammers that rotate between a small handful of CC based providers (CVPS/123sys/HVH/ BlueVM/and CC unswiped range) have regularly been showing...

    No Disparagement Clauses

In the low end f*cktard sector you just have hosts who will cancel service if a negative review is posted online, and in a couple of cases I've seen hosts threaten to report the reviewer to FraudRecord for posting a negative review (with the reason for the fraud report given as "slander", "staff...

ColoCrossing, Quick to Get Large IP Blocks Issued and Faster to Soil Them

If people don't want to wake up and find that the entire /24 their website is hosted on has been blacklisted and their emails are being blocked then they should choose their providers more carefully and only choose providers who proactively fight spam (see example #2 below) and avoid those...
