You are right, doing raid1 you will take a hit on performance.

I'm not at all condoning what he's doing but have you looked at the benchmarks on this CPU vs the old one he was going to use? Sometimes 'server grade CPU' means nothing. It's possible that his monitoring software is going to keep people from abusing the disk IO meaning that 1 disk could be ok...

Of which probably 1200 are lurkers, there are only a few of us here that actually ever post anything.

Ahh yes I missed the entire topic and even read this whole thread. Ok - 'vps forum' brings us up as the first result, but I'm not sure the people over at lowendtalk searched for 'vps forum' when they decided to join.

Although I am unsure if some of the new people at lowendtalk actually know about this forum. This is one of those 'intheknow' forums as there is no other real way for people to find this forum as far as I know.

I see no margins on this, looks like you would operate at a loss. Many things that are operated at a loss eventually get discontinued so there is no real reason anyone would want to buy this other than that they only have to spend $1.

Actually I was the one that suggested to him that he use my connections to keep his costs low - so yes that is a big factor there. I will let him respond to the rest.

I think he would still like to get his point accross that he isn't providing anymore information to him, so that would need a reword not an elimination.
