What's the point in having a VM in Canada, when the latency is going to be twice as much as normally? Also, the configuration you stated above still isn't RAID capable.

Both have advantages and disadvantages, however my personal opinion is that if you can not afford spending 500-1000$ on a good hardware raid card, it would be better to stick with software RAID. In my experience so far, I never had a software RAID fail and at least 3 times a hardware RAID fail...

If the above listed configuration is your VPS node, I'd concerned. With this disk setup it is not even RAID1 capable and this is just asking for trouble :)

Yup they do now charge per IP, I think it's 1 euro per IP? (Not sure though) Even old users that paid the setup fees get charged each month now. Same thing would happen in the US in an year or two (depending when ARIN runs out), at least in my eyes. On the other side, as far as I am aware...

If you have the budget, I'd suggest going with BlackLotus, doubt that you would regret it. On the other side, you can get buyvm or securedragon vps with DDoS protection.  We also offer ddos filtered IPs, so you can HMU as well, depending on the flood type :)
