    OVH vs Hetzner dedi

Should I care about this?  They have E3-1245's for a few euro more, and 1245v2's for a few more than that.  Prices of everything have fallen.  I ended up renewing my OVH server for another month (path of least resistance) but it's coming up again soon, so I'm again considering this Hetzner...

    Places to Get SSL Certs?

I think I might have bought some from https://cheapsslsecurity.com/ VPSboard regular Crissic.net also sells them at competitive prices: https://my.crissic.net/cart.php?gid=12 I think I may have bought my most recent cert through Crissic but I'm not sure.  Either way I have a VPS with them now...

The "4GB for $7" match: DotVPS vs INIZ (OpenVZ.io)

I don't see the point of these ridiculous oversold plans.  You can't use them like a dedi.  There's nothing like kicking off an 8-hour multicore 100% cpu task at bedtime, checking the results the next morning and seeing that they look good but misformatted, and instead of spending 15 minutes...

    OVH vs Hetzner dedi

Thanks for the advice and I guess Hetzner is sounding pretty good.  Online.net doesn't have any product like this: their lowest end server with more than 2x2TB disk is a Pro LTS that's 120 euro/month.  The Hetzner boxes with 2x3TB start around 40 euro/month. I've been pretty happy with the BHS...

SSD OpenVZ from $12/yr | HDD OpenVZ from $10/yr | Native /64 IPv6 with each VPS | Crissic Solutions

Who is your credit card processor?  I notice (unless I made an error) that your CC form target goes to your own site rather than the payment gateway, the usual setup with small providers.  I ended up getting nervous and using Paypal though I prefer direct credit card payment.  I like that you...

    OVH vs Hetzner dedi

I've had a couple of OVH dedis (currently just one) at BHS and generally been happy with them despite what seems like a disorganized operation on OVH's part.  I use them primarily for personal storage and computation, i.e. I don't run any public-facing services on them, though I do download a...

    Gorack $25.50 1U Special

Ah, thanks Joe, that makes more sense.  That's more interesting then, though I'd sure like to find something more local so I could get at the space myself instead of having to ship a box around.  I just got a vps from Crissic that I think is at that dc, and its network speed seems fine so far...

    Gorack $25.50 1U Special

Aside from the issue of the ad being more than a year old, a colo server with just 10 mbit of connectivity doesn't sound all that useful.  I can get that from my mom's comcast without shipping boxes around the country.  If you get the 100 mbit upgrade in the Gorack offer, it's still a good deal...

    LET Archive?

Yes, this.  I completely lost interest in LET after coming here.  I don't see why bother archiving LET.

    OVZ256 $10/yr | KVM512 $30/yr | Monthly & Yearly Sale | Crissic Solutions LLC

I went ahead and got the 512MB OpenVZ and the network performance is pretty good (I transferred about 75gb almost immediately).  The disk space is sure nice and the price can't be beat.  There's a minor issue with one of my scripts not working the same way as on another one of my servers, maybe...

Question regarding OVH spam filtering and providers that use them.

Yeah, I had the 3 USD/month OVH slabbed vps for a few months and it did reboot a few times, though it worked pretty well when it was up.  I wrote something about it in the reviews section.  I also have had two OVH dedis (both at BHS) with a combined 2 years or so of operation and zero downtime. ...

Does anyone offer Xen servers anymore?

Inceptionhosting has them.  EC2 also runs on Xen, I think.

XVM Labs - $5/year VPS is back!

From http://xvmlabs.com/tos.php : In order for us to assign an IPv4 or IPv6 address to a customer's hosting account, we must submit customer's personal information to the appropriate RIR (depending on the region). Since when is that required for ipv6?  I thought it was just for ipv4.  Normally...

RamNode - DDoS Filtering, New Pricing/Plans, Control Panel and RIP Coupons

Thanks, the WHT post was informative.  The feature list is reasonable though the $20k budget is a bit on the aggressive side, at least for around here, given that something like that will tend to take some iterations with the customer.

RamNode - DDoS Filtering, New Pricing/Plans, Control Panel and RIP Coupons

Can someone explain what this panel thingie actually does?  Most random vps hosts use whmcs and solusvm--are we talking about just a replacement for solusvm?  And what does that do really?  There are a bunch of command line tools for creating and controlling openvz and kvm containers, and the...

RamNode - DDoS Filtering, New Pricing/Plans, Control Panel and RIP Coupons

There was a regular vpsboard35 coupon for 35% off... I never understood easter egg hunting for the slightly better 40% or 42% coupons that showed up a few times, though I did use those (fell into temptation) when they did appear.  The new prices are about like the old ones with the coupons in...

    OVZ256 $10/yr | KVM512 $30/yr | Monthly & Yearly Sale | Crissic Solutions LLC

This sounds kind of unsustainable--you're beating the better known storage plans and attracting disk hogs like me who have TB's of data scattered around.  Are you ok with that?

100gb of disk for $15/year is amazing, are you serious?  Is it on RAID and what is the RAID configuration?

    Raspberry Pi Model B+

As I understand it: 1) the extra GPIO is useful to people doing hardware control.  Higher gpio count is a selling point of the Beaglebone Black. 2) The extra USB ports mean you can use USB storage, wifi dongle, keyboard and mouse simultaneously without needing a hub. 3) The mounting holes...

Dear Provider, I'd be more likely to buy your VPS...

Maybe it's just me but I've always felt hesitant to use substantial amounts of cpu on any budget vps (budget = the ones we talk about here for the most part).  So when I see someone looking for high cpu resources in a cheap vps, I think "ok, there's an overloaded node, better stay away".  VPS's...
