    ColoCrossing full disclosure

Thanks, I was not aware of that... not good indeed, but does it justify making parts of the said database even "more available"?

    ColoCrossing full disclosure

I don't agree or disagree with all this CC thing, but how is it "good"/legal to post pieces of stolen database?

How do you folks win a chargeback when you do not have customer's signature on file?

Stripe, get a clue. Your chargeback system sucks

Thanks, I checked out Braintree, looks like a decent drop-in replacement for Stripe. However, is it any good in case of chargebacks? :)

Stripe, get a clue. Your chargeback system sucks

We were about to go with Stripe for our new project. So I guess we should not. But what are the alternatives?

    RHEL 7 beta released

Seems to me that SL is pretty much the same as Centos, isn't it? You can even convert from one to another in like a minute.

    WANTED - Seagate Barracuda - 500GB

I must say that the firmware revision does not really matter in this case, you would still have to swap the ROM chip.

    WANTED - Seagate Barracuda - 500GB

I have checked our boxes with old drives, no Seagates unfortunately. I would do a search for "donor drives" - you should be able to get what you want no problem. Also make sure you transfer the original ROM to the new board (otherwise it won't work) - some places that sell pcbs will do that for...

Lightweight tiny 1x1 pixel web server

In this case I would definitely go with nginx, it will have no problem at all with that kind of load, and its resource usage in this scenario will be close to zero.

    4u colocation

I bet nothing is stopping you from stuffing a 4U case with a small switch + as many motherboards, power supplies, etc you can physically jam into it. Just make sure the backplane looks "normal"...

I was a "Windows XP" guy for a very long time. Now that I used Win7 for a little over a year (it was preinstalled in the new laptop I bought), I hate Windows XP for not having quick search in Start menu and now I struggle every time I have to use WinXP.

What do YOU use to monitor your servers?

All our monitoring systems were developed in house (well, graphs are built with rrdtool). Alert system is built into the "admin" side of our KiwiVM panel, so we get texts to our phones when things don't go well.
