    Linux AV capture / streaming?

If you just want to view the stream, you can always use VLC. For something with DVR like features you could probably look at MythTV: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythTV-HOWTO_-_0.27#Video_Capture_Device Checkout LinuxTV as well, these are mostly focused on recording TV/OTA but there's no...

    Quadcopters and other tech toys?

Thanks for the information, there's a ton that I'd  need to research. What's the range like on your mini-quad?  Are you using a wireless camera transmitter, does it have a HDMI output or something? What's the typical flight time/charge time for a mini quad?

    Quadcopters and other tech toys?

Seems no one is able to give me an approximate cost...  I see pre-built models like the Parrot for around $300 on Amazon but I'd assume that it's inferior in performance/functionality compared to what you built.   Is building from parts anywhere near comparable..?   What do the cameras run...

Whats Your Monthly Mobile Data Use

I pay for $55/mo for 10GB on Wind Mobile and I try to use all of it.  I've used 8GB this month and have 13 days left =/ I haven't been able to find anyone who will offer more than 10GB, most plans come with 1-2GB for much more money.

What one should know if planning to start public mail service

I wouldn't even want to host my own personal email as the amount of work required to achieve the results is huge. I feel that Email is the most finicky service we use today due to everyone using a different blacklist/spam detection filter and the most complicated to maintain as instead of...

Drupal Tells Users to Assume Drupal 7 Websites are Compromised

Seen quite a bit of SPAM related to this, especially since Drupal forces you to do manual updates of the core and people are lazy to begin with. Thank god for Drush :)

Transferring email from vestacp to cpanel server?

For individual IMAP accounts, you can copy the relevant sent, deleted, cur, etc folders to the mail directory of your cPanel account or you can use ImapSync as @wlanboy suggested. I've used it many times for email migrations where I did not have access to the source files, it does a good job...

Looking for a business partner(No investment required)

I believe he means the Age of majority, which has a lot to do with maturity... So.. You've made a nice list of "requirements" but no list of benefits/returns, anyone with the technical knowledge that you're wanting could just start their own hosting company as the barrier to entry for this...

Hmmm, why did my IPv6 stop working recently? Oh, because I was only asking for a /64 from their rout

Are you only tunneling IPv6 through the VPN? I'd be interested in knowing how this is setup as I was attempting to make a private v6 tunnel.

VestaCP, Webmin, CSF, Observium, is that combination made in heaven or what?

If you're only using Webmin for CSF, you should know that CSF provides a built-in httpd/UI, see

Good VPS specs for remote desktop?

Chromium/Chrome will not work by default in an OVZ container: https://github.com/travis-ci/travis-ci/issues/938 You can use the --no-sandbox flag to get it to start  but this will disable sandboxing entirely and generate a nice warning on the UI.

Good VPS specs for remote desktop?

If you're running Chrome, you'll need XEN/KVM.  Why do you want to run Skype on a remote desktop?   I'd look for alternative client that supports Skype text messaging. I'd recommend 4GB(maybe 2GB for Linux) of ram + 4 cores for a decent experience, you can probably get by with less but Chrome...

Anyone here operating their own personal weather station?

It depends on what kind of tree it is but I would use it as the antenna tower.   When I lived in FL, I had more than one neighbor with an antenna tower made from a palm tree and some PVC pipe.  You just run the PVC next to the tree and anchor it to the tree, then run your cables through the...

Anyone here operating their own personal weather station?

I'd like to but A. I live in a basement suite so I don't have a good place for a anemometer B. Finding good equipment is difficult/expensive C. The stuff I do see is incompatible with everything else I've settled for a cheap Walmart "Weather station" with 2 remote sensors, mostly so I can...

GreenValueHost / GVH and HostNun banned for operating shill ring

Pepsi.....?  :o You don't mention Pepsi to people from The South! It's like eating Chicago style(deep dish) pizza in NYC. On Topic:  I bet GVH will be back to LET/LEB in a month or less.

GreenValueHost / GVH and HostNun banned for operating shill ring

Got me all excited but it looks like you can't buy them only lease ($300/mo is pretty steep), and I'm sure the refill cartridges much more expensive than typical bag in a box.

Any way to use the CSF visual web interface WITHOUT having cpanel?

You should have a section like this in your csf.conf: # SECTION:Integrated User Interface ############################################################################### # Integrated User Interface. This feature provides a HTML UI to csf and lfd, # without requiring a control panel or web...

What do you use for monitoring the load?

Observium, but Munin seems to be the most popular from what I've seen. I don't see Cacti too often anymore.

GreenValueHost / GVH and HostNun banned for operating shill ring

I just wanted to chime in as a Canadian Telus user, it's been my experience that my IP address does not change often, even upon router reboots (I've had 3 IPs in the past 30 months) and that the IPs are geolocated reasonably (at least in BC). [Edit] I've gone back and checked, all 3 IP...

Any way to use the CSF visual web interface WITHOUT having cpanel?

There's a WebUI built-in to LFD, however it eats CPU while it's running. Seems like the cPanel/Webmin UI is just some CGI/Perl scripts, so you should be able to use them to control CSF/LFD without having the run the control panel.  This is something I've been meaning to look into for some time...
