I would recommend against this, a regular VPS with Raid 10 should have no trouble reading at line speed.  If you have a ton of small files that are hit very very often maybe it'd make sense but I don't really see it.  If you have high I/O requirements, go for an SSD VPS as it will serve you much...

DotDeb is shipping 1.6.x right now, they have been for almost a month I believe.  I think the DotDeb repo build is fine for most purposes.

Why would you want to disable the access log?  You can clear it regularly if your site is that busy, or at least log rotate it. If you're really after the performance gain, why not stick the access log on a Ramdisk and logrotate it out daily/hourly/whatever depending on how large your log is...

Proxmox is very easy to get up and running if you don't know much about OVZ/server management.  It'll pretty much take care of everything for you in regards to install, you just need to create a CT.

Is cPanel showing the correct timezone at least?  Sync with timeserver won't do much on OVZ unless sys_time is enabled. I've seen that it seems to favor MST/MSD by default.  When I set it via cPanel it doesn't always stick but doing the following usually does the trick: rm -f /etc/localtime...

Is Datavault inside the Peer1 DC? I haven't see any other datacenters in downtown outside of Harbour Centre.   It's tempting however with Telus my latency is no better then Seattle, still approx. 12ms. IPv6 available in Vancouver?
