Looking for a Raspberry Pi alternative with 2 ethernet ports.

The Pi's ethernet is just USB right? Why not just add another USB Ethernet adapter?

Not sure how I missed this, just ordered additional IP's for some of my RamNodes.  +1 to Nick!

    Self-Hosted Web Proxy?

You can disallow indexing, or as specified in the original post, setup HTTP auth.  Glype works fairly well, I haven't used it in awhile but PHP Proxys work fine for most websites.

    Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

You're absolutely correct, I don't know why I was thinking it was a triple 7, however it did still take nearly 2 years to recover the craft. In regards to the radar, even if it'd happened off the coast of the US or Europe we'd only have slightly more information, radar coverage over oceans is...

    Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

I disagree, the 777 is quite modern and Malaysia Airlines has a fairly good safety record.  Commercial airline travel is overall extremely safe, however will always be accidents as sometimes shit just happens.   It'd be extremely hard to land such a large aircraft undetected, and if you did...

Sharing connection from Windows to Linux

Have you tried removing the switch and plugging the Linux PC directly into the Winblows one?  It's unlikely that it's the problem but lowering the number of variables involved is always useful.

Sharing connection from Windows to Linux

Are the other PC's getting a DHCP IP ?  I would assume so if you can ping them which would make me suspect firewall/something with the Windows box or bad DNS servers.

    Review of BudgetVM

This was my terrible experience with them, I ordered a VPS because they claimed native IPv6.  The VPS didn't come with it, I was assigned some, after waiting 24+ hours for "senior network engineer" and it didn't work at all.  They basically told me tough luck, IPv6 isn't ready yet.   After...

Secure Dragon LLC. - Now in Atlanta! (and still in FL, CO, IL, and CA) Happy Birthday vpsBoard, enjo

I'm waiting for Portland even if it's all backhaul to SEA and LA, it will be nice to have a reliable provider in the SEA area aside from RamNode.

Sharing connection from Windows to Linux

Bridging the 2 devices should share the net, if they can ping each other than they should have internet.  I'm assuming they're on the same subnet since you're able to ping each other. Are you using DHCP?  Are you using any kind of Firewall on your Windows box? Is your switch doing any kind of...

Sharing connection from Windows to Linux

If I'm understanding this correctly you just want to bridge your Wireless connection to provide internet via Ethernet.  Select both connections, right click Bridge Connections. If you're doing this on a long term basis you should look at a dedicated bridge, any DD-WRT router would work.  I...

    SFTP Screenshot Uploader

Does it allow you to use your own hosting or just one of their supported services?   I'm quite happy with my Gyazo clone, it's tiny, easy to build and works well enough for my usage/a few friends.  Building your own clone is fairly easy, my only issue with it is that it doesn't support SSL for...

    DNS: Route53 vs DNSMadeEasy

If you don't require GeoIP, I have nothing but good things to say about dns.he.net offloading my DNS to them was one of the best choices I've ever made.  If you use one of their IPv6 tunnels you can link it up with their DDNS as well for easy end-point updates.

BlueVM outted on WebhostingTalk.com as bad pay

We all care about Cat pictures!  Who said we didn't? Obligatory cat picture:   My black bear DeeDee (She came with the name so I had to name another cat Dexter).   Do most tech nerds have cats because we're too lazy to walk dogs? Or is it that we like things that do whatever they want...

Hackers circulate thousands of FTP credentials - big websites hit

Who's still using FTP?  Aside from shared hosting providers. On the cPanel VPS's that I manage I see almost as many attacks on FTP as SSH, if you don't use CSF/Fail2Ban/similar you really should start if you're running an FTPd.  FTP can be easier to crack as in the case of cPanel servers, as...

As a customer, would you purchase from a provider that doesn't offer Paypal balance payments?

I believe PayPal is still the most popular way to pay online, at least in the US.  I deal with people on a daily basis who want to start an e-commerce site but don't want to accept PayPal.. they never believe me when I say that's not a good idea. I'm all for options but pretty much everyone...

Need help pointing a domain name to Proxmox VE 3 Web Gui

I don't have any active Proxmox setup but last time I used it setting the hostname and adding an A record was sufficient to allow access to proxmox.mydomain.com:8006
