What are my options for a low power server?

If you want lower power like under 20W, look for embedded systems. Most are Atoms some are celerons. Example of ones I like to use: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182855

    Favorite Laptops?

I trade laptops in and out every couple of months but these have been my favorites so far that I have kept and still use: HP EliteBook 2540p - Versatile. Several options. Lots of ports. Strongly built. Small for easy moving and on the go work on the field. Only thing missing is an HDMI port but...

    The latest paypal policy updates

Canadians were 3rd on the list ;) The only time I've seen disputes tend to be around the last days and they are typically those who jump, use, and dispute. Will have to wait and see if the 180 days encourages more of that behavior.

    The latest paypal policy updates

After reading that I was... ughs. But we have never had issues ever from the UK. They are the 2nd most favorite and nicest next to our Australian clients. I really wonder why they extended the length for the dispute. Why was 45days not enough?

16GB ECC Server RAM 204PIN sticks

Yea, so I noticed. ;/ Was hoping they would have been more common. Managed to find 8GBs at a decent rate, but nothing 16GBs. Have a cool project idea so I was hopefully going to make 6 mobile servers that run on next to no power.

    Work form home? Simple enough

How we do it. My new laptop Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 just came in today and I am using it right now and in a few seconds I have everything like I never left it. It is so great too when you are on the go and work from 3 laptops and a desktop on a daily basis.

    FreeNAS

You can do 16GB RAM in the HP Micro servers but requires BIOS patching in some cases. Newegg every now and again will let you grab them for around $250-280 and throw in a free 2TB drive. =)

    FreeNAS

True, true. But there are always those who come in from Google searching and now they will leave learning something and a community/thread hopefully bookmarked ;)

    FreeNAS

Go with WD REDS or a NAS/RAID based drive if you plan to run RAID or want reliability in the storage. It's not a big big deal but if you read into the fine details, terms like ERC (Error Recovery Control), CCTL (Command Completion Time Limit), and TLER (Time Limited Error Recovery) and some...

    FreeNAS

HP MicroServer + FreeNAS = #WIN We use this setup in small businesses all the time when a dedicated NAS device is not used or preferred. The options are simple and the ACL and other advanced options are great. Won't bother listing the pros of FreeNAS as you can read about them, but comparing...

    Any wine drinkers?

This is true. I recently opened a red wine from you guys, and I've really come to enjoy it over a lot of the others. I'll be buying some more just to send out to some clients of ours. I told one of them about it and she likes her red wines so they can't wait.
