    Home security systems?

This. The guv'ment wants you to feel safe and secure, but it's not realistic.  Here in the central states, we don't even have marginally better roads  :D

    [Split] MicoHosting Inquries

That's kinda annoying; I asked him to participate in the thread. I'm really not concerned about anyone's confidence in micohosting, I'm looking for some kind of reassurance that we're not hosting some sort of phishing/fraud site. Providing reasonable customer service isn't difficult, and when...

    Home security systems?

Ah, when I read the topic of "home security system", I was thinking more along the lines of something like http://simplisafe.com/ instead of just having some video cameras. I have two SimpliSafe systems and quite like them. Regarding a home video system ( :P  ) I...

    Live chat

We had a staff meeting and voted to remove the live chat from our site. Despite being named "SALES chat", people seemed to think it was for live technical support. We do not offer live technical support.

    Budget Phone Service

That's why I quite like Ting: I pay for exactly what I use (within 'buckets') instead of being required to sign up for an arbitrary $xx-per-month plan that may come with values that i'll never use, like minutes. Current Ting usage:  "9 days left" because I had some wireless hotspots on the...

Soooo I emailled him, and didn't get a response. Then we suspended his account. Still no response. Maybe he's been murdered by a street gang?

    Budget Phone Service

I was initially interested in Republic Wireless but was pushed away by your only option being an archaic phone and the fact that they love to tell you that they expect you to use wifi, and will cheerfully kick you off if you use "too much" cellular network, but in absolutely no way and in no...

Throwback Thursday - Gex the Gecko (3DO)

I didn't own a 3DO product, but ah, Gex! I remember downloading that from channels on EFnet via XDCC in what seems like ages ago now...

    WHMCS Security Patch

Indeed, they really need to cut off the older versions and concentrate on maintaining a single version. It might alienate some of the companies still using the archaic versions, but gotta move on eventually...

PHP Help needed (inserting an IP block into a MySQL database)

And one more bit of info: a varchar(15) should be sufficient to hold the max address length, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Not that 15 extra bytes is going to make a difference :P

PHP Help needed (inserting an IP block into a MySQL database)

    I found this in my pile of code snippets: $range = "192.168.0.0/24"; function ipListFromRange($range){ $parts = explode('/',$range); $exponent = 32-$parts[1].'-'; $count = pow(2,$exponent); $start = ip2long($parts[0]); $end = $start+$count; return array_map('long2ip'...

PHP Help needed (inserting an IP block into a MySQL database)

Clunky as it is, that would probably be the best method. Another method is the first answer on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1938162/how-to-create-a-range-of-ip-addresses Keep in mind that you can concatenate values together for your INSERT statement, and therefore do a single INSERT...

what happened to hoster sonwebhost.com and how to restore

What's interesting is that he's sending it to each customer... but from this thread, there's many people who weren't actually customers but are on the lunch. Everyone should sign up and receive a potential free lunch, except tanstaafl.

My ioping is better than your DD

Indeed, i'd much rather have durable <0.5ms ioping times than 700+mb dd values. I'm usually doing random i/o, not block writes of gigabyte-sized files.
