I could throw three other tests that show performance to be different.  For simple images like the OP described I think GD will be faster.  Mileage may vary and the OP was looking for an alternative.

From what I can tell the list is purely a list of all hosts that use CC.  I've done a lot of research lately and it seems that CC is a large turn off for a number of people when choosing services.

This offer is also a BYOL affair.  So after the trial your "Windows VPS" is pretty much worthless. From their wiki:
