What to do when VPS IP block gets added to SpamHaus?

If a provider doesn't own their own IP space, ask them for a test IP and then go to bgp.he.net and you'll be able to tell who they're using.  It's always a good idea when you first get a VPS to check to make sure the IP isn't blacklisted (mxtoolbox.com and multirbl.valli.org are two good places...

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Two observations about that statement: 1. The people on LET/WHT who shout "it's the customers fault so they deserve whatever they got" the loudest tend to be people who make their living working a day job for someone else's company because their part-time business isn't bringing in enough to...

Avoid sleazebags like RapidSwitch who change the indemnity clause on their TOS AFTER a customer gets hit with a massive attack and then try to stick the customer with an overage charge of over £10K. If I remember correctly RapidSwitch was nulling at the edge routers and not dropping at the...

List of providers who offer DDoS protection.

It works.  The free protection is Sevi M6-NG and has a delay of a couple minutes before it kicks in.  The paid  protection (€20 Advanced or €70 Curative) is Arbor Peakflow TMS-4100 and doesn't have a delay and gives you more control over the filters.

Internet providers don't think you need fast internet. Cable industry opposes 25Mbps broadband defin

I would have classified it as a need 20 years ago but only because I had an Internet business 20 years ago. My non-business related Internet usage is actually very low: a few news sites and trolling forums like VPSBoard.  No streaming media, game playing, uploading photos to NSAbook, etc. Home...

What to do when VPS IP block gets added to SpamHaus?

There is nothing you as an end user can do but switch providers because the problem isn't going to get fixed anytime soon.  WeLoveServers has chosen to knowingly rent servers and dirty IP space from a data center provider called Velocity Servers (d/b/a ColoCrossing) who is very friendly to both...

    Most popular location for VPS?

Need to go to France for that...Online with their ARM Cloud, OVH with its many specialized cloud offerings: Power8/Hadoop as a service,/Docker as a service,/HPC, etc. Added a couple of words to that because in the long run those providers inability to innovate (even if the innovation is only...

    Most popular location for VPS?

Dedicated servers are the most popular location for VPS providers when they launch a new node.  The second most popular location for a VPS node is a VPS (yes, slabbing). The toxic waste sludge on the lake bed would corrode the hardware within 5 minutes.
