I use webvirtmgr as a lightweight gui to manage libvirt kvm instances at home.  Don't need the overhead of proxmox.

I use approximately 700-900MB in a typical month, on my 6GB 4G/LTE plan.

The downside to that approach is that you lose half of your throughput for each piggybacked hop along the chain.
