What about taxes? I think there is a difference between donations and income out of ads. Would that not make the tax return complicated?

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

If I need 2GB of RAM I do need decent CPU und IO loads too. Overselling is working because people who bought 100GB shared hosting accounts now buy 2GB vps to run Apache and MySQL on it. They do only use 200-300MB of RAM but they think they need the 2000MB RAM package. Overselling customer meets...

ChicagoVPS / CVPS Hacked. New SolusVM exploit? [PT 2/2]

I would not take any free services. Nobody needs additional services that do not work. Cheapest way for them would be to through out some free months.

Reserving Disk Space you Purchased from the Oversold VPS providers

Nasty idea. I will do that on my low end vps too. Maybe the backup space of the weekly backups is oversold too.

Nice site to see on which country and on which network (AS) maleware and fishing sites are hosted: Google Malware Dashboard.

WHMCS - Horrific Cleaning of variables leaves multiple zero-day possibilities

Noone. Their goal was to do as much damage as possible. Selfish egomanics.

    SolusVM WHMCS Module Vulnerability

True words.  I hope someday the leakers will have something of worth that someone else is destroying because he is able to destory it. But I don't think that the leakers will ever build up something even worth mentioning it.

ChicagoVPS / CVPS Hacked. New SolusVM exploit? [PT 2/2]

Because people don't learn. It's always the fault of the provider. I started a poll about this.

Do you have a current backup of your servers?

Simple question. I want to see how many people do not have backups for their servers because their hoster does weekly backups.

    Non US/EU OpenVZ

The EDIS offer is ok, but pricy. 125GB traffic for 5.20$ a month. Oneasiahost is offering Singapore (100GB) for 4$ a month.

Good ol' debate OpenVZ vs KVM - Why yes, why not?

KVM is not as secure as you think: http://vpsboard.com/topic/728-kvm-luks-io/ If you want to secure your files you have to use a dedicated server. The only weakness of OpenVZ is the need to run the same kernel as the node. If your os needs an older or newer kernel you have to switch nodes.

    High Availability

The DNS solution sounds good. If I would run my own DNS servers it will be quite easy to update DNS and to setup low TTL. Am i right? How much traffic does a DNS server create? Do I have to secure a DNS server?
