So many... have come and gone..

Not a problem, it is a topic that could use some redress and discussion, and it's always unfortunate when a customer wakes up and all their stuff has vanished - it's bad enough when there's a backup or snapshot, but when the provider goes poof.... argghhh! :)

So many... have come and gone..

Well I guess I'm poppin' the proverbial cherry on this sub-forum, and in doing so wanted to share a bit of observations and also express my enthusiasm for the remergence (is that a word?), of vpsBoard, as a valuable asset in our toolchests for keeping a pulse on the community, the industry, and...

    vpsBoard's Future

Yes indeed! Manndude shot off an email letting us know. Nice job w/the xenforo, and in keeping the kewl theming that I always liked so much here at vpsboard. It looks like the migrations went rather smoothly, and aside from just a couple of adjustments to my profile it appears that most...

Getting new clients ~ How did you do it?

Be clear about your business product offerings. Don't  be ambiguous about what your SLA is or the service you will and will not provide at the base level of the hosting. Make sure the customer knows that, for example, "On-demand, Self-managed" services means you do shit, other than make sure...

    WHMCS 24/10/2013 Vuln

Although there were patches released relatively quickly, thanks in large part to contributors here at VPSBoard and the full disclosure independent security teams out there, the official email announcement from WHMCS wasn't particularly all that timely. Nevertheless, the email alerts did...

    WHMCS 24/10/2013 Vuln

There remains the promise of http://WHSuite.com but no word on progress at all. And then there's Blesta, which has promise w/the participation of 3rd party developers, yet w/o that is still pretty much just a billing platform for webhosting. HostBill works nicely, when it works at all, and if...

virgin /16 IPv4 block fresh from ARIN available...

I do have a lot of IPv6 space :) But I haven't generally been promoting it for my clients at this time. The post I just made, however, is for a large chunk of IPv4 space - which is much more valuable ;)

Domain registrars and DNS server hosters

I recommend my good friends at http://www.thetrustee.co/ You simply can't find a more dedicated, experienced, and knowledgable staff that supports a greater number of TLDs in a single place IMNSHO. Give them a try. You'll be glad you did. Kindest regards, .

WHMCS 5.3.0 BETA release - Bug fixes?

You're a nutbag, right? Here's one project that aims to be successful, although they've never been clear about pricing, etc., they have pledged to be completely open source and non-encrypted with any of that ioncube crap: http://whsuite.com/ I hope that helps :)

    Untapped locations?

I picked up a vps from a special offer at LEB a couple of years ago or so. At first, there were some issues, but I was relentless, and it went kind of like this: Zabbix starts firing alerts off to me I open a new ticket for each alert they try to keep up with whatever the issue is but everytime...

    No Ad DNS Project?

Another decent resource for using /etc/hosts is HERE, but that's using "files" (from /etc/nsswitch.conf) for resolution of IPs, which in most cases should come before DNS and NIS in that file anyway. When you consider layers of redundancy, and the fact that a correctly configured nsswitch.conf...

Domain registrars and DNS server hosters

@wlanboy, if you don't have the global presence of servers yourself to implement your own, self-hosted DNS infrastructure (which is recommendation #1, BTW), then HE.net is certainly a good, no frills provider, as you point out. The nice thing about HE.net is that they also provide for quality...

    The most informative VPS offer

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the forums do support graphics, albeit, apparently only 500k from what it says. That can still make for a nice ad with supporting text included in the rest of the ad.
