    SolusVM or Proxmox ?

Did you find a way to do unprivileged containers? I couldn't. It's on the roadmap of pve 4 though. I've got two online specials yesterday and will be putting pve 4 on them, but 3.4 probably would have been a better choice with ovz. Having containers running as root on the host isn't ideal.

    Cheapest EU VPS & DEDICATED

It's someone being funny from lowendtalk with the latest Chairhost, being a new host, has been spotted. They've got quite the attention and competition from "Tablehost" and the like.

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Yes, can confirm both the L3426(now out of stock) and the e3 1230v2. No idea about the e3 1220, but it's probably the same as the Black Friday special, in which case yes. Thank your for answer about the termination, managed to terminate it by 01/April.

    The cesspit / chat thread.

Anyone interested in online.net special offers can order from https://console.online.net/en/order/server_limited. Seen it mentioned on lowendtalk. Deals: They of course posted this after the 20th. I would have ordered the the E3 1230v3 to replace the black friday offer I've got...

Run Android Apps under Ubuntu with KDE - Shashlik

Looks like you can build it from source. http://www.shashlik.io/what-is/ Building Prerequisites First download and install “repo”. A tool that makes it easier to work with multiple git repositories at once. $ mkdir ~/bin $ PATH=~/bin:$PATH Download the repo tool and make...

    The cesspit / chat thread.

How educated are "DDOS" attackers? I've just seen a thread on lowendtalk and made me wonder about something. Are they smart enough to go direct for the IP or are they going for hostnames?

What happens when your outsourced Twitter bot goes nuts or gets hacked

It's more like they've bought a twitter bot and got crap settings. Just look at how many people they are following. Most people don't bother to massively follow others in that amount. They really deserve what they've got anyway. If you care, flag them for botting. Hopefully, twitter will...

What happens when your outsourced Twitter bot goes nuts or gets hacked

Quite a lot. I've flagged at least 3 to 5 of their accounts on lowendtalk over a few months. They were actually entertaining, admitting spamming and apologizing for it. Then getting banned again, and joining up a few days later.

Host your own DNS or use a DNS specialist company?

It was surely something in the config directory in the default config files that stopped pdns from replying. Now it's working, except for the resolver's returning nothing! But I'll look into it. Thanks for the link and ideas.

Weather from the Commandline by Igor Chubin

It needs curl user-agent to work though. My curlrc file is set to  Windows firefox to avoid website 403s most of the time. If you curl it with non-curl useragent, you get html source. user@debian:/dev/null$ pc curl -L -A "curl 666 satanic edition" wttr.in/washington ProxyChains-3.1...

Host your own DNS or use a DNS specialist company?

That's what I've followed on Debian 8(mostly ubuntu 14.04 tutorials work, sometimes you have to modify file path and package names) and there was no response coming from bind when queried with dig. I've set bind to accept queries from 10.0.0.0/8 and localhost. It never answered despite...

Host your own DNS or use a DNS specialist company?

I'm all for self-hosting services, but for the life of me can't figure out powerdns. I've tried it a few times on VM-s and the server never answered to dig. I use cloudflare for everything for now. Indeed, domainbop's comment of failure. Imagine they drop, lock and purge all free...

Adblocking goes Mobile - Entire Wireless Network Now to be AD FREE *!

Not a huge fan of anything coming out of Israel. Businessinsider has a story about the company and its investors if you're interested. Me, I prefer openvpn on my phone, with firefox. Firefox supports ublock origin and now finally noscript also works on it.

    Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/

Is the container on private IP(behind NAT) or you assigned a public ip to it? All virtualization experience I have is with proxmox and NAT VM-s on. If you're PremiumN on Lowendtalk, drop me a pm on lowendtalk. I can't reply with anything useful here.

    Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/

You can't resolve hosts, that means you have no internet connectivity. Try pinging 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. If ping doesn't work, you don't have internet at all on the vm. Your network config  file in /etc/network/interfaces is most likely the culprit. Or you don't have dedicated IP-s for the...
