Is it possible to disable cPanel's pushing of TrustWave SSLs within WHM? I ask, because it came to my attention yesterday that someone had purchased an SSL Certificate for their VPS direct from within WHM's interface, and was processed and setup by TrustWave. Aside from taking a sale away from the company, it creates additional workload as the customer was under the impression and that the company sold him a certificate, because they provide the VPS and the cPanel/WHM license for it. That was not the case, TrustWave did. I suspect cPanel probably get's a kickback from it, too. It gets worse when his certificate was expiring, and TrustWave tells him that he must contact the company for assistance with renewal... So not only does the company get zero dollars on the SSL sale, we're forced to spend time to support it.
So, why does cPanel, a commercial software, push products within their control panel? Them selling SSL Certificates direct from the software you pay for costs providers money and time when explaining to the customer that, "Yes, we provide you the VPS and the cPanel license... and even though you ordered the SSL from the software we provided you... you did not buy the SSL from us."
Big PITA. So, what gives? Is there a way to disable and rip out cPanel's silly pushing of 3rd party services? I'm surprised I've not seen anyone else bitching about this. Each time a customer buys an SSL Certificate direct from the WHM interface cPanel is essentially preventing a sale from the company that is paying for that cPanel license.
