For some reason this doubt pop up today while I was configuring some IP ranges. I'm not an expert in the overall network areas, judging by what " expert" truly means.
This is the question.
Can a the network address be assigned as usable IP and actually work?
By mistake I configured the incorrect main usable IP in a dedi, inputting the network address. So let say .234 is the network address, this is a 29, valid usable should be from .235-240 gateway -> 235
In the dedi 234 which is the network address is set as main, gateway .235, subnet .248 and all works correctly.
If i'm not wrong network address should not be usable. What can be the reason for it to be working?
