DDoS Protection Upgrade

We also offer DDoS Protection as a paid upgrade on our special servers! We offer this mitigation service through IP Transit with GigeNET right here in Chicago. If this service is purchased, GigeNET will handle all inbound traffic through its premium blend (PCCW, Level3, Cogent, TeliaSonera, nLayer, XO, + peering) and will activate mitigation when an attack is detected.

We've recently had some further questions about our network, and want to provide some clarifications for any clients who may be curious about our networking setup.

"Is your network optimized in any way?"

All of our outbound network traffic is optimized through the usage of InterNAP FCP (Flow Control Platform) devices. These intelligent network routing devices will efficiently detect network congestion or other issues, and route your server's data around the issue through the next best and most efficient paths. To the end user, this often results in a better and faster experience on your application, website, or game servers. It will often result in lower ping and cleaner traceroutes from your server to the destination.

"What networking hardware do you use?"

We use a combination of Cisco and Dell networking hardware in our racks, while our upstream providers (Steadfast and GigeNET) utilize high-end Cisco and Junpier routers and switches at the network core level. We periodically upgrade and update our networking hardware to offer consistently high performance and reliability.

"How does your DDoS Protection work?"

We have chosen to utilize GigeNET's DDoS Protection offerings primarily because they have local data centers and points of presence. The secondary reason is that they offer a much better blend - consisting of Level(3), PCCW Global, nLayer, TeliaSonera, Cogent, HE, and XO - than many other DDoS Mitigation providers. This results in much better networking performance and lower ping for users who are under the DDoS Protection service's protection. We utilize IP Transit through GigeNET to offer this protection, and currently have multiple /24s protected through their services.
