I doubt they'll succeed. You cannot teach a computer to have emotion or to have logic like a human does. It's impossible.
Aren't emotions just if-then trees based on chemical interactions? If It's known what chemical interactions result when certain inputs are given, and then applying the entire history of that personality to the mix, then it can be known what the outcome shall be.

Another way to think of it is cloning: sure, cloning is possible, on a cellular level. But without re-living the entire history of the clone's parent by the clone themselves, then you won't end up with the exact same organism.
