Hey There!

I'd like to request a clarification on why such a place is required?

More detail would be appreciated especially since right now it's just "I want this to happen" with no real explanation as to why you want it.

Thanks!

Hello,

Some of members don't want to discuss some matters in public forum and want to discuss privately.

+ Eg: They don't want to discuss in open forum(eg: which will be also indexed by google, etc)

+ I mean you want to discuss someting but don't want to discuess in pubic forum?

Thanks,

Kunnu

Based on my observation, the domains section can only be viewed by registered members. and the provider's hangout only for verified providers.

Right @FrapHost :)

I think the non-indexed member only area is a good one.  Reminds me of the toilet thread on that other site.   But we are better than that, let us have a whole forum section for different topics.

There's always using Skype or PM'ing someone in here or there's the #VPSBOARD irc channel where you can also chat with someone in 'private'. No need to create another meaningless section.

Well, Verified Providers have their own little section. Staff does to. Neither are very active.

IRC is a good option as Voss mentions. Usually around 150~ people in there, even if most are idling, it's quite active at times.

My vote is for "keep it classy": no non-indexed forums. I can understand the reasoning for one but the use cases I can think of for it allow for undesirable community behavior, which I think is something worthy of avoiding. Justifying it as "we want to talk about things we don't want non-members to publicly see" seems weak to me.

Just my opinion.

Yup, like an invite only section. It all starts with a "members only" area. Then a "members with XYZ only" area.

Keep it open for everyone.

The 'Verified Provider' forum, I added with the mindset of a little safe-haven where a provider can ask a question to other providers without judgement of the community. It's not really used for that, but for example if I represented a provider and wanted to know how someone else would of dealt with a situation, that is where I would ask it.

Staff forum is private, because well, yeah. We don't talk smack but there are threads in there for plans / talking about what I need to do, etc. "Note to self" type threads and what not. It's where we sit around and drink scotch and smoke fine cigars in an virtual office of rich mahogany.

But I understand where you guys are coming from.

I'd like a section like the local WIC/Welfare office, full of whining kids, mothers needing a handout and generally sighing from the productive members of society.

Heck that reminds me, support the single mothers and tip the dancers.

Don't forget the pool table in the lounge and a full stocked bar in the back.  We also sit on thrones of money.  each.
