    Nope, they did not see the network issues. If I look at the servers of the downtime reports the routing issues are always based in the EU. The US based connections are fine. Maybe they do not monitor eu routings.

    Jup. Laptops: Latest Ubuntu "XYZ Stack" servers: Debian "Basic" servers: FreeBSD If I want to run Ruby/Phyton servers/apps, MongoDB, RabbitMQ servers I am switching to Debian but for more "basic" scenarios I am always using FreeBSD.

    Regarding your second question. The problem was the poor audio quality and background noise of the Raspberry Pi if the output was analog audio.     VNC is not the RAM consuming part - it is just forwarding the GUI. The GUI itself (Gnome, KDE, ...) are the real RAM consumers. So it depends on the GUI frontend you want to run.
