Running a lightweight music streaming service

Music Player Daemon (mpd) for Linux allows remote access to music files and managing playlists and of course streaming (via http) of the music too. Patchfork is a PHP (Pear) script that is able to control mpd. 1. Install mpd apt-get install mpd lame 2. Configure mpd nano /etc/mpd.conf...

The american "credit" system and meaning?

Not at all. Just that you paid your bills. B.t.w. your bank knows everything about you - so no "breach".

The american "credit" system and meaning?

It is the US way to measuring the trust in one person. Every time you are refused a line of credit, lose a card, or pay a bill late, that information goes onto your credit report, which calculates your all-important credit rating, a score from 300 to 850. The higher your score, the “better”...

    Email services - your opinion?

Second that. For a private email it is ok. But noone should under estimate the effort to run a mail server.

    Terafire LA KVM

Quite a thin review. Did you check the uptime and availability of the vps? It's hard to get problems if you do not do anything.

Yup - I don't want to cage the beast - but I don't want to feed it with donuts too. Ok - so who wants to be the lead developer for this phyton project? who setups jira? who setups git? who setups jenkins/test environment?

    Email services - your opinion?

I still have a google mail account for all the boards and newsletters. And I do have a paid email account for bank/job/contracts. All my private stuff and mx for my domains are I don't want to put my communication in one basket.

I said Ruby not Rails. So you never did anything with Ruby. My own website: It is like telling someone that .Net sucks because WinWord is consuming more RAM than vi  . PS: I would stick with Python 3.

Would any of the mentioned panels would run on a 64MB vps? Nope. Second that. As far as I understood fisle and peterw it is all about low resources. Installing Apache, PHP, MySQL to manage a DNS or mail server is overhead. Why should the panel consume more resources than the service it is...

Free Public DNS resolver list (public DNS servers)

Me too but that is all about why we have to pay for SSL. Open communities chain of trust doesn't work all the time.

    vpsBoard community gameserver...

You should add a vote to this thread and add all mentioned games. Would like to see that we get this running.

Some notes to your well written post. Stage #1: - Have a recruitment system (vpsBoard sub-section). Users will post their ideas with requirements (timeline) It will be hard to figure out at that stage that you need 40 mandays to develop somethings. Or that 4 developers for 10 weeks doing 8...

    Brainstorming an idea

Great idea. You will easily define how the people work together (agile, svn/git), what licence type the group will use, a.s.o. It might be possible to get release schedules too. People do often not realize that a release date does include a defined set of workload too - like 10 hours a week...
