    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Hm.  I don't see it as far as I can tell. Although I did find the LET topic on it.   Also seems Shovenose posted about it a while back here:

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Ooh tinc for a VPN network to hook up all the storage systems does sound interesting. Besides for security concerns, any benefit over this from? (simply curious)

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Ya know, another alternative is Seafile.  My only worry though is that it's maintained by a single individual.

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Hit the nail right on the head.  Thanks for that.  Yeah my writing could/should have been better.   Yeah.  I think I'll (sooner or later) be possibly using Owncloud or something similar to that nature for it.

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Also, I forgot to ask (haven't done much research on Tahoe-LAFS), does it support public-linking of files?  Or can it easily be integrated to work with something like that?

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Huh.  I thought Tahoe-LAFS had problems operating non-locally.  Or am I wrong?

    Self-hosted Distributed Storage

Alright so lets talk about this. Anyone know a good and easy way to create a self-hosted distributed storage system? This can either be a local cluster (via LAN), or one through the interweb (aka like hooking up a bunch of cloud servers up to make a distributed storage).   I think it'd be...

    Bash Remote Exploit (https://securityblog.redhat.com/2014/09/24/bash-specially-crafted-environment-v

Agreed to this. I will admit I was to blame for this in the past (so this makes me a hypocrite). But... It seems whenever some accusatory claim comes onto the forum people immediately jump on it and go forth with it. Remember that "Admins are trying to censor everything!" when Matthew was...

BTSync - Bittorrent Sync file replication Mega Thread

Just for clarification purposes. Btsync is basically a Dropbox alternative that uses the bittorrent protocol right? How is it for large files?  And for files that are constantly being changed from many locations?

[Chicago] Intel Xeon Budget Dedicated Servers From $60/month (32GB RAM)

I'm so sorry. I read "batch" totally the wrong way. Anyways, this is a great deal for a ton of cores!

    Proxmox VE 3.3 Released

Haha from what I recall it takes them a while to get full documentations up.

VPN.sh Launching New VPN brand FixedRoute

I do recall getting e-mails constantly from them about issues with Abusers.  Before they didn't have much monitoring on, but as time went on more and more measures were place and then Liam just disappeared.  Who knows.  I hope he won't pull the same things.  It's just disheartening sometimes.

    Proxmox VE 3.3 Released

Well, from what I can tell it's a bit more complicated than a simple "apt-get upgrade"... Check this out: http://pve.proxmox.com/pipermail/pve-user/2014-September/007704.html They want you to mount the Proxmox VE 3.3 ISO or something and fiddle around with that. I haven't actually read...

Setting up a VPS on OVH for SmarterMail or Zimbra

I understand the want and the "need" for a graphics interface, but honestly I'd say you should learn Bash (Linux) and Powershell (Windows).   But if you really want, you can install XRDP, VNC, X2Go, whatever for Linux and use Gnome/xfce/KDE/etc.  There's a ton of resources on the internet about...

    Proxmox VE 3.3 Released

This is a bit of old news, but for those of us with private nodes that like a one-stop solution Proxmox is one of the Go-tos for Virtualization.  As I was looking for the latest Proxmox ISO for a local desktop computer I have at work, I found out Proxmox released version 3.3 of their PVE...

Setting up a VPS on OVH for SmarterMail or Zimbra

I don't know much about SmarterMail, but I'm running Zimbra on a VPS right now.   Zimbra can be installed on CentOS, SUSE, or Ubuntu.  Because I'm a bigger fan of Debian I installed it on Ubuntu. Be forewarned, Zimbra is a software coded in Java.  Meaning it's initially incredibly resource...
