I don't see having an opinion as a lack of ability.  To flip that on you, it's generally a bad idea to base rulemaking on lack of accountability and a general sense of entitlement.

The hostmaster email is required for SOA.  Rather than use your personal account (or using fake emails), just use a legitimate account created for handling your domains.  That way you still get any important notices, and don't risk your personal account going public.

Hah, yup, exactly. Doing backend stuff for WHMCS isn't all that bad, they actually have a fairly decent API setup and the DB structure is real easy to get familiar with. I just _HATE_ dealing with Smarty/etc or having to hack together fixes for UI/frontend... especially when I can't even see...
