RamNode Down?

Assuming he didn't do the actual hit to begin with. On a more amusing note, someone has been trying to use the http://code.google.com/p/slowhttptest/ tool from a couple different VPSes (I'll be emailing the providers shortly) to try and slam the exploit link with us. Stallion doesn't have this...

    RamNode Down?

His affiliation with the LulzSec group (and other unsavories), to put it shortly. From http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/jun/24/lulzsec-irc-leak-the-full-record : I tend to take issue with someone actively trying to turn negative attention towards our network. There are other reasons...

    RamNode Down?

Pretty much the only sensible move the kid has made. joepie and his ilk are exactly the sort you _avoid_ if you're trying to run a legitimate business.

    RamNode Down?

There's no doubt at all that Robert Clarke (the real kid, not the imposter(s)) was the one that attempted to run the exploit on us as well. By his own admission (visible in his Twitter timeline, until he locked his account from public view a few minutes ago) he was "testing a bunch of...

    RamNode Down?

His service with us was ended due to an unrelated matter. Privacy policy prevents me from going any more into detail on that.. but it had nothing to do with this :P

    RamNode Down?

    I usually don't get involved in messes like this... but here's a little something yanked from from our own logs: 50.46.111.187 manage.buyvm.net - [16/Jun/2013:02:51:56 -0700] "GET /centralbackup.php HTTP/1.1" 301 0 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML...

    WHMCS - Extended Login Tracking

We both write code for the company... and then we decide what's best for the company, not what's best for us :P

    All in one solution

Yar, but that's not what I'm positing... I've seen some of Solus' source (actual source, not some de-ioncubed/etc).. and it's horrible. Beyond horrible. Ditto with WHMCS - the source I've seen there is less than pleasant. So and and so forth with other panels and CMSes. ESPECIALLY the...

    10,000 posts!

No, it's not, but that's no reason to defend him either. In case you didn't notice, Fabozzi tried to step up and take the first swing... let him suffer the consequences (or if you must insist on playing mediator, give a less biased admonition).

IPv6 is now available on ShoveHost VPS!

I never said it did... I was giving some advice on a specific situation, which it seems you read right over. But if it works for you, then godspeed sir :P

Out of curiosity.. how are you folks determining what's "more secure"? Number of exploits? Because then you have to factor in obscurity and how well used the alternative actually is. Sure, it's easy to claim that product B with one exploit in 3 years is more secure than product A, with 4...

    WHMCS - Extended Login Tracking

Not always. I've used login tracking to deal with abuse cases as well.. "but I wasn't using the VPS or account then, it couldn't have been me spamming" 'And yet my access logs say different...', etc. I do have a separate table and module running that handle audits concerning where IPs change...

IPv6 is now available on ShoveHost VPS!

Yar, it's typically not noticeable until you get into the higher numbers... but give an inch and they'll take a mile.. offer 50 and they'll somehow justify how that absolutely have to have 100+ IRC vhosts . I honestly don't remember if we approved your request or not (If I handled...

IPv6 is now available on ShoveHost VPS!

You offer OpenVZ, right? Might want to warn your clients that actually having that many IPs on a single instance will seriously delay startup/reboot times for that VM. And if you have a node full of 50+ IP VMs crash... you could likely finish a short novel before those VMs are all back...

    WHMCS - Extended Login Tracking

Yup, sorry about that >_< My production database is has the column labeled as ipaddr (for consistency with Demi and a few other tables), and it's actually an unsigned integer, not a varchar :P; I'd just simple'd it up a little bit when I wrote the tutorial. I'd corrected the mistake in the...

    [Request] WHMCS ZNC Module

The problem with that approach is that connectivity to the bot may not always be guaranteed - IRCds are very prone to DDoS and other attacks. Not to mention the complications with having to then setup an ACL within said bot to ensure that you're only accepting add commands from the panel - and...

What are features you as a client want to see

What I ended up doing for quite some time until Fran finished writing Stallion1 was simply using bash/sql scripts. On create, it would pick 16 consecutive aviailable v6 addresses, assign to the VM via vzctl (to ensure the confs were updated), and correct the SQL records. KVM was more or less...

What are features you as a client want to see

Heh, both have solid reasons for being there. Too many people will either stop paying, or be terminated for abuse, and simply try to open a new account to avoid their history. I also see a good deal of people "opening an account for a friend", and there has never been a good justification as...

What are features you as a client want to see

Well, we know it's not for everyone, but we do prefer to be a host that people can easily relate with. Jarland put it best.. I don't remember his exact quote, but it was along the lines of wanting to talk to a provider on a first name basis and know you could relax with them...
