Use logwatch to keep an eye on your logfiles

If you did all the steps the default output of logwatch is "send via email". Do you have a running smtp server? Run following command to see if mail delivery is working: sudo less /var/log/mail.log Don't want to install a whole mailserver? Install nullmailer and use an existing mail...

GetKVM acquired by Bradler & Krantz & Co.

Not again. That's it - won't ever buy anthing again from Ash. If I would like to buy from big companies I would not do business with small providers. I like the personal touch and the trust in persons I know. My backups, my webpage, my emails, my wiki, my vpns .... are important things for me...

WeLoveServers (VPS Hosting in 6 locations) - adds Orlando, FL & London, UK locations

There is no hate, stop saying that if you get some head wind, Look at the reviews of CC based hosts - e.g. my reviews of BuyVM or BlueVM. A lot of people here do have the feeling that a "new to the forum" host, which tries to hide something, might be suspicious. And if you add CC/CVPS to that...

WeLoveServers (VPS Hosting in 6 locations) - adds Orlando, FL & London, UK locations

Yup. Maidenhead is next to London, and Maidstone is quite outside. 40 miles or 1 hour by car. But don' compare that to Buffalo - that is 370 miles away from New York City.

    Lowendbox is a corrupt marketplace

We are talking about Swiss. If I need something in the south I would buy it in Italy or Germany and not in Switzerland.

What virtualization are you using? OpenVZ, Xen, or KVM?

Most of the time I am using OpenVZ. I do have two KVM boxes too - but only because of the hassles Java can cause on a not perfect done OpenVZ setup.

    Feedback on prices for backups/snapshots

15% is fine. So for a 5$ per month service I have to pay 5.75$ per month to have this service with snapshots. A good feature for everyone wanting to test something like upgrades.

    Lowendbox is a corrupt marketplace

Let me add some words out of the perspective of a EU customer. Looking back to the last three years I think I know why Buffalo was rising that fast. In the EU there are a lot of premium datacenters. So for a  low end user all offers in the main countries were out of reach. All vserver offers...

Searching for IRC channels of providers

After rediscovering mailbox systems I also try to reflate my IRC activities. My current list: ObsidianIRC.net #BlueVM #HostUS Freenode.net #vpsboard #lowendbox So what vps related IRC channels are available? Any net/chan I should add?

    Rage4dns question.

Hosting the own website on a different network is ok. But they have a distributed DNS anycast network - and don't trust it enough to host their own domain?
