Should service providers be able to refuse service based on country?

Yes, Ameicans are becoming the illiterati quickly and fashionably.  SMS yo'.  140 character attention spans and random blurts.  Let's sit at restaurant table and text each other.... Tssk. As for private business part...  Laws are overbearing and out of control in the USofEhh.   I am for all...

    Kimsufi BHS in Stock!

It may be, but why upgrade when margins are rather thin and gear still rather useful and capable? I am shopping with you also... Oh wait, I won't provide papers to the officials for the luxury of low prices.  Must say, crazy prices.

ColoCrossing's Buffalo, NY network is slowing down? Too many Spammers?

It sounds like their rate limiting to cap DDoS Stressheads might be what is capping you.  Perhaps they capped you under threshold so you wouldn't later complain about speed reduction. Now you buy a Gbit connected server and you get less than half of that.  New market per se for Gbit port but...

Acceptable time to wait for ticket response?

It depends on the labeled priority.   If things are hard down and some other mass failure I expect promptness. I hold folks to the levels they advertise.  So if your company says 15 minute average response time, I expect that and might get a tad aggressive about it after 30 minutes. Problem is...

    FraudRecord is at it again

Anyone running solar powered stuff at home?

Zoning nazis and code enforcement can't say f-ck about ground mounted panels in your yard.  Don't let them try either.  Property ownership starts at property line, start manning up if need be.  Putting them on building in you area would possibly run into permits and all sort of drama.  Avoid all...

Should service providers be able to refuse service based on country?

Sure just like a business should be able to choose not to service gay folks, folks of different colors, those who appear to be crazy, those who appear to be sketchy, etc.  These are private businesses.  They are not government sponsored equal playgrounds with unicorns, fluffy clouds and grand...

    Reseller Hosting $17.70/year - Master Reseller Hosting $23.70/year - MisterHost.NET SPECIAL

We highly frown about this word: UNLIMITED. Submit proof to moderators proving you have unlimited sized disks that actually work and upstream commits are also unlimited.

Anyone running solar powered stuff at home?

There's a solution to that, a petrol or other fueled DC genset.   Such is recommended in off grid situations in the north where cloudy days can go one for weeks. DC PWM generator is pretty simple.   A car alternator will suffice or more cheaply, a DC motor from an e-bike.  You connect the...

    QuickPacket Aquires Slicebox

Not a provider and a sub brand seen around here previously. Indian company. Had their air time on LET and a 2009 offer on LEB.  You can find them on WHT also. Hopefully this deal goes better for QPS than the last one that blew up public ugly.

Anyone running solar powered stuff at home?

I've prior bought the Walmart batteries and they were at least then horrid (forget which manufacturer). There aren't many cheap and tolerable batteries out there - deep cycle wise.   These are intended for things like small boats where someone might discharge some while fishing then turns on...

How often do you update your servers?

I see folks recommending KernelCare, haven't seen directly (am not a provider) but witnessed admins cussing about KernelCare breaking.   Ksplice, was also recommended, I run the free version on my VPS instances.  That does work good and haven't been slapped that I am aware of by that. As-is...

How often do you update your servers?

I update regularly, as in daily... However I am brutally slapped by breakage all the time.  This applies to Debian as much as it does to apps for Android. QA testing has gone down the sewer in recent years where people are all about rapid flushing the toilet with code.

Anyone running solar powered stuff at home?

I have a bunch of alternative energy stuff here (solar and wind).  Most of it I have piled up in storage though.   Waiting to find a place / raw land to build on where such is more acceptable and less let's steal it environment. Have one panel on an off grid structure currently.   But I need to...

Looking for pay as you go VPS reseller program

Yeah this is resource pooling.  Fair idea and it exists in the marketplace, but not extremely popular or promoted. Reminds me of what Incero did with their VPS offerings via Wable.  But that is OpenVZ based, so no Windoze.
