VPS's .. The dangers of doing business with idiots

I don't see why the client should have been discontinued and refunded really...  Seems like the client could benefit from more knowledge and consulting by you @. Security is a big laundry list of things....   Real companies, running real businesses, employ people to deal just with this aspect...

    New winamp.com website

I am a fan of Shoutcast, both the server and the directory... Hopefully new ownership invests in Shoutcast and development.  It has stagnated for a long time.

    AIT Cloud Server Review

Thanks for giving them a try and this review. The single location blows the whole cloud concept for me.   It's a, ahh, stationary cloud :) Disk speed on your review: I/O Speed (dd):    43.4 MB/s Yeah, that's subpar. Nifty site there petabyet.com :)

Choopa sends out Vultr to drown in the DigitalOcean

What is this, a joke?  Oh wait, I just saw the sidebar ad...   Who am I writing about next to bring them in and convert them into a sponsor?  Glad to see Choopa/Vultr supporting the smaller communities.   It's appreciated!

    I Feel Ignored

Have used DO in the past.  Ticketing is extremely fast.   But, that is from the customer log in side.  I saw < 30 minutes and updates on things that took longer. General contacts may be handled by some other department and being dropped.

    Mt.Gox shuts down, is insolvent

2 million income on 10.7 in sales...  ~ 20% profit in a business with literally no product cost. Cost of goods at 100k, corporate taxes at 1.02 million and net income of 2 million... Oh boy....   Clearly they were in the business of selling vapor.

    Mt.Gox shuts down, is insolvent

So, many indexes were based on the Mt. Gox numbers for worth of a bitcoin... Where exactly  is the Bitcoin value this fine day on those other markets?

    Mt.Gox shuts down, is insolvent

What technically did Mt. Gox even do though?   I never saw a business model of such largess there.

    Was BlueVM's website down?

BlueVM isn't a scam.  Ownership issues and bunny trails aside. Their site was down though.   This happens to the best of us.   Noticing they aren't hiding behind a protection service.  Perhaps that has something to do with it.  Has to be a target like many lowend* provider websites are.

Choopa sends out Vultr to drown in the DigitalOcean

and... about the website for Vultur. "Cloud Hosting on the Largest Worldwide Network" False.  Unsure how they can claim this.   Largest compared to who?  To DigitalOcean?  If so then compare head on and name the competitor.  Otherwise, competing with all sorts of providers and obviously some...

Choopa sends out Vultr to drown in the DigitalOcean

Meh, the security issue was a classic fubar.  Unsure who is being paid to dev stuff, but something like that is grounds for some pain in any environment I've ever worked.  Like someone getting docked some money and humiliated.  Someone needs coursework / mentor / best practices refresher...

Choopa sends out Vultr to drown in the DigitalOcean

What's the difference between DigitalOcean and other VPS companies?

I signed up with DigitalOcean on a promo code where they gave a bulk of credit for becoming new customer, required a token validation and deposit.  So I probably gave them $10 or $20. In big picture, talking about a 512MB VPS fulltime deployed and several others I use for testing as-needed.   ...

Choopa sends out Vultr to drown in the DigitalOcean

It's an odd launch.   I saw after posting this that Serverian posted about this new offer on Lowendtalk...  I stumbled into it looking at search placement of terms unrelated on an unfiltered terminal --- Google AdSense ad...  So, spending money for something quickly fumbled  nice luxury and...

What's the difference between DigitalOcean and other VPS companies?

Digitalocean much like Choopa's Vultur offering are basically many location VPS companies with their own custom panel.  The have public APIs that allow for interesting automation for advanced customers.  Hourly billing is nice touch especially when you are a tinkerer like me and roll VPS...
