So I just opened my blind to see these big things staring at me...

Ignore those critters.  They are just our new NSA spybots.  Those bovines can't fly, but they are known as motherships for the spy flies :) I think they are stealing your wifi too :)

Cows live across the street @Jack?   Looks like they've been there a while. You ought to open the blinds more often and venture outside some :)

    SolusVM Audit Update

The issue really isn't cleaning up the code.  It is cleaning up the mess and having a real audit by a real firm that will back their work with certification / warranty / similar.  Solus from a PR perspective is on the ropes about to get punched out.  They need to get some pros on board to deal...

    New SolusVM Update

This is news:   In house and external audit.  Color me slightly impressed.  Wondering who the external firm is and if they are bonded :) ?

ChicagoVPS / CVPS Hacked. New SolusVM exploit? [PT 2/2]

      Adam + Chris + Luc.

    RobertClarke/Server Crate back ?

I am on a weird fence line about this topic :) I know young Robert was poking at stuff, but can anyone confirm any post-check poking that was done as follow up by Robert? I was a tinkerer in the darker side of computing before many of you were probably born.   Tinkering, checking, even poking...

"You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day"

Thanks for the increase! Now I can give even more daily thanks here in the church of vpsBoard :)

Do you have a current backup of your servers?

That's what I do with my baby sized projects.  My large projects are far too big to ever try such a thing. I definitely need to add more backups though.  At least three for redundancy sake.

    RobertClarke/Server Crate back ?

Yeah WHT and the uneven policing. A little too holy approach to the sacred ads over there.

Yes, I can confirm SolusVM wasn't storing any phone numbers.

"You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day"

Oh, the coming thanks insurrection.   Such a grateful lot of folks over here :) We did our best disco dance on this issue a week back.   @MannDude was last seen trying to establish where/if there is a setting to adjust this.   Good to *bump* this to his honey to-do list.

    SolusVM Audit Update

The source can be cleaned up / fixed.  The main functionality/features are well known and they work.  Probably $100-200k cleaning up the code, outsourcing a real audit and paying new employees/contractors. The company has paying customers and quite a few of them. Don't talk too loud :)...

WHMCS - Horrific Cleaning of variables leaves multiple zero-day possibilities

No, I didn't miss that :)  I am not interested in a DIY recipe or howto, but for the doubters sake and your own, nothing wrong with finding a willing host and displaying the compromise effects (non maliciously of course).   I am a skeptic, but open minded.

ChicagoVPS / CVPS Hacked. New SolusVM exploit? [PT 2/2]

Well, I've done my part, more than anyone else :) Best bet is to file with CVPS for account credit.  Me, I'd be interested in something more than one month since some of you were victimized twice inside one year with your account info being put out in public. There are privacy concerns...

    SolusVM WHMCS Module Vulnerability

What I posted earlier was from SolusLab's own support site/forum.  At that point (2009?)  SolusLabs seemed microscopic.  Two nerds and a secretary. Does anyone know how big or small SolusLabs these days is?  I suspect, not very big. Asking the founders/authors to audit their own work is like...

    Incero Review - AVOID

That's bone headed pricing.  Still looks like an interesting place :)  Just not the place for low end folks, who they'd probably not like anyways as customers. It does take a special kind of datacenter to handle the mass IP requests, the abuse issues, the inevitable DDoS attacks and do so...

    Incero Review - AVOID

Yeah, well that operation is a local utility that does everything in Springfield, right?  Telephone, electric, water, natural gas, and the public bus transportation.... right?

    SolusVM WHMCS Module Vulnerability

I don't know why he's such a big target.  It could be because he's the biggest.... mouth...? Nice of you to give him a heads up though :) Solus Labs give me an uneasy feeling in general.   I am not in the industry, but do unfortunately end up using their product(s).  Well, until sensible...
