Help wanted for technical how-to tutorial for Debian 7 mail server

Looking for someone to do a complete and reproduce-able tutorial for a mail server solution for Debian 7. The tutorial should cover a standard open source mail package and allow for multiple users and multiple domains.  Additionally, it should handle standard IMAP/POP3/SMTP and have web based...

    Something Wrong with VPSBoard

Same datacenter, with a high performance VPS. But truth be told, the biggest slow down when offloading the database is the network overhead and time between the machines.  Offloading MySQL is just plain slow.  There are reasons to do that (ex: limited RAM VPS, centralized huge MySQL server...

    Virtualized Desktop

Explain this :)  You mean if I want to use a remote VPS for GUI things I take it? So run VirtualBox inside the VPS?  That would require the VPS + Debian + GUI + VirtualBox, right?  Sounds interesting.  Imagine it's laggy as can be though, especially when dual monitor rendering and remote...

    Something Wrong with VPSBoard

For transparency sake, I've offered to buy vpsBoard another VPS in Vegas to offload the MySQL.

So why do you recommend this?  Never dealt with VMWare before.

    Something Wrong with VPSBoard

Yeah, there were issues today with heavy traffic (spiders + malicious) and slowness from MySQL.   @MannDude is on it now.  Just saw a huge increase in site responsiveness in the past 5 minutes (especially when submitting posts).

    Virtualized Desktop

So @bcarlsonmedia  @TheLinuxBug thanks to both of you :) Going to try exactly this - VirtualBox when I get a new workstation in for the user.  Been wavering on what to get and virtualization requirements.  VirtualBox should make those requirements less costly.

    Virtualized Desktop

@TheLinuxBug,  good write up. I've used VirtualBox eons ago --- probably 3+ years ago.  Never in this manner though. Have you tried VirtualBox with dual monitors? So looking at OS (Debian or Ubuntu)  then running VirtualBox inside of that and doing the Windows install in VirtualBox?  Sound...

VPS offers - quarterly and semi annual

Asking the community their thoughts on longer term plans for VPS accounts. Typically, people get the monthly plans for many reason (low cost, letting the provider prove themselves, etc.). I've been slowly transitioning from monthly plans. Reasons for doing such: constant emails about invoices...

Dang Pie, you Catalyst folks have server addiction issues :)  That's quite an array of servers. @category5,  welcome to the site BTW. Kids and you learning aren't a great mix.  Definitely won't stick in your brain matter as constant disruptions and lack of sleep. Linux God Mode comes after...

    [AUCTION] Dedicated - Atom D525 / 4GB RAM / 64GB SSD / 750GB HDD / 2TB / 1Gbps

RIght on MartinD.   Continuum really is suitable for the low end though.  Network mix looks good.  The prices on colo $39 for 10Mbps, $99 for 100Mbps.  Full cabinet at $499 a month...  Well, surprised they aren't the second most favored low end facility.  Then again, FDC is oddly missing from...

Expecting wife = no free time.   Get ready to run around for supplies constantly, the non stop crying of the child and months of being tired and moody.  You aren't about to embark on a time span of high productivity, minus the next few days maybe.

    Virtualized Desktop

Good replies guys!  Glad to see this idea isn't so out of the ordinary around here :) @barclsonmedia, with your setup your monitor, keyboard, etc. are all tethered to the server (i.e. your computer is the very same server)? Are you able to flip around on your monitor to the other instances on...

    Virtualized Desktop

Contemplating a solution for a pesky user who lives in a dual monitor environment.  User is in Linux, but has need for some apps that are Windows specific (and having environment that is identical to other colleagues they are working with). Does anyone here run a virtualized desktop environment...

Instead of VPN I like sshuttle. Nginx often for web serving. PHP of course. Mumble for a voice server. DNSMasq for my own DNS caching layer and ad/spy blocking. Streamripper for recording audio programming from streaming stations. Podget for downloading podcasts. FUSE enabled on the VPS +...

    IPv6-Capable VPS in Northeast US

Providers out of Choopa/Constant facility in New Jersey *should* have IPV6 as the facility offers it. GetKVM offers out of there and lists IPV6 in ads.
