    REQUEST: Spoiler tags

TL;DR http://vpsboard.com/topic/1724-raidlogicnet-openvzxen-linuxwindows-vps-starting-as-low-as-995year/ This offer is a freakin' beast in size. I highly recommend we get some sort of spoiler/etc tags that allow grouping. Francisco

    "Firewall" - is this possible?

Hm. One way would to have an exempt table/etc in your firewall that passes traffic through w/o validating it again. You'd have to use NAT and have your 'auth' page push the users connecting IP into the allowed table. Francisco

Converting .flv to .mp3 via command line? (Debian)

I think pony uses mplayer. I'll link him this and see if he'll drop some nuggets of knowledge :) Francisco

    ColoCrossing Companies

Personally I wouldn't doubt if CVPS owns them and a few other brands on here, at least partially. In December of last year Chris was actively pursuing companies to buy a majority stake in. He tried us 2 - 3 times but we said no thank you each and every time. My basis is if they're hosting with...

    Volumedrive about to deadpool?

France has very cheap power and you pretty much don't pay for bandwidth. Everyone and their dog uses the 'open peering' project that OVH pretty much runs. It's pretty much free bandwidth :P Francisco

    East Coast DDOS Filtering

Blacklotus backhauls to CHI, they don't actually have a filtering POP there. Buffalo with us will be a pretty decent option for Chicago since a lot of traffic backhauls to CHI anyways. Francisco

    Updates on SolusVM alternatives?

We don't push passwords to people anymore. We used to but we stopped doing that since we had far too many complaints about root passwords. When billing2 merges we'll most likely making it so when a new VM provisions against you it'll email/TXT it to you. Francisco

    Volumedrive about to deadpool?

Burstnet refuses to touch that pricing since it leaves no meat on the bone to pay vendors, nevermind even staffers. Like I said, it's easy to "make it work" when you aren't paying anyone. Francisco

    East Coast DDOS Filtering

I think Joe raised the cost of his filtering because he got tired of shitheads signing up. At least that was what I heard last time, it's quite possible he never went through with that! Francisco

    Volumedrive about to deadpool?

They did $50/m E3's with 16GB RAM. Who in their right mind can do that, even when leasing? Where are you making any margin to cover the cost of gear? It's easy to 'make that price work' when you aren't paying any of your vendors. No one does $50/m E3's unless they need to move inventory now...

Just updating this :) We're still a week or two out on this. The provider we're working with had some delays in shipments so their nodes only shipped in the past day or so. Francisco
