Training to become a more valuable asset for hosting related jobs?

Minus my time in construction I had 2 tech related jobs. One of them was when I was 16 I was an onsite linux tech for a company. Crappy pay but I learned a lot and got out of the house. My other job was at a local coding firm that rarely paid me and made me do 90%+ of the work. Certificates...

Are the days gone that it's hard to get a buyvm box?

Personally I don't see us closing the Buffalo location short of CC tripling our price or something. If we ever 'moved' it, it would be moved to NJ or actual NY. What is more than likely to happen is we'll just open a 2nd East coast location, as well as a Europe location. Europe is postponed...

Many in denial :D Users thrash their VM's with us pretty good. Francisco

Are the days gone that it's hard to get a buyvm box?

And that's where the difference is between us and most of the others. A lot of people 'collect' LEBs like they're hockey cards but don't actually do much with them. There's a thread on these forums of 'what do you do once you buy an LEB?' and there was countless replies that were honestly 'It...

Are the days gone that it's hard to get a buyvm box?

Network will improve greatly once the new router is in place and Rob finally gave us an RFO on the power stuff. We have added more nodes but that's mostly because we don't know what Stallion 2 will bring. We don't know if it'll cause a sudden big rush for people or what. Yes, it's hard to...

Stallion 2 - pictures and daily updates :)

An interesting idea but for now lets just roll what we have working :) From there I can start making a list of improvements as well as timelines on it. Thanks, Francisco

I'll add that to a point release after roll :) I don't like enforcing the 'strong password' thing since they're hard to remember. Passing special characters to vzctl can be annoying as well so we've enforced the following policy: Francisco

Rollout moved to Wednesday night since Aldryic has the time free :) We'll have an official email sent out in the morning documenting everything. Francisco

    IPv6 Availability by City

BGP tunneled :) Still a tunnel but at least whenever Rob gets around to V6 it won't require a renumbering for users. Francisco

    WHT Down

I think they've been getting some big floods that is causing their BGP session to drop. Every time I see WHT go down their BGP entries are missing. Francisco

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

If you have a bunch of kernels to try, try something from the 2.6.39 range. A long time ago I had a developer work on a fairly large addition to the .32 kernels and he went on a huge rant about how RHEL's .32 is pretty much .39. Francisco

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

Yus. RHEL 2.6.32 is a complete cluster fuck since it has so much crap backported. I simply can't get a ksplice to generate properly. I had to change how some of the structs were handled Right when I think I have it figured out? it blows up again. Francisco

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

The linux people charge for support :P Anyways that's another subject all together. Right now i've patched against 76.8 and just waiting for it to chew through. I've given the thing an E3 to run on but it seems it isn't forking multiple threads like I was hoping. Francisco

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

Let me get this damn thing to compile properly before I start giving things away :P Charging for opensource things is wrong, especially since kaniini wrote the patch my builds based from. Francisco

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

Not on a paid subscription. We roll our own to patch things when we don't want to reboot 90 nodes. It's easier to distro a 100k patch than reboot everyone ;) To date we've had to roll a half dozen or so ksplices, usually to fix deadlocks. Ksplice is giving me attitude over .32, though, so we'll...

heads up: kernel regression in CentOS 2.6.32 and OpenVZ 2.6.18/2.6.32 kernels creates local DoS (reb

Been trying to get a ksplice to generate but it's being annoying. I've yet to build a 2.6.32 ksplice so I'm running into a few derps for sure. Francisco

Tested it against latest .18 and latest dev .32's. Annoying :( Francisco
