ARIN Stock Changes Feb 2014 - Down to 1.38

Make that 38 now. A few more days? Maybe even next week? The /24's lasted a lot longer than I had figured. I was sure they would've all been gone last month, but ARIN has been very slow to reply to tickets. Francisco

    Lowendtalk.com Moderator Meltdown

Yep, it's why LEA never sold the community after he had many companies try. It's really hard to be 'impartial' when the main owner is a datacenter itself. EV1 had that issue with WHT way back in the day too. Francisco

    Lowendtalk.com Moderator Meltdown

What a shame. I honestly never had a single issue with Spirit, even when he was a customer at an old job of mine. LET comes off as being incredibly stressful to run. They go through a lot of moderators, and i'm guessing that's because it turns into arguments of how best to handle certain...

I tend to agree, I still think V6 is going to be mostly for large ISP's that don't want to give their users dedicated IP's on their more budget plans. Grandma/Grandpa with their 5Mbit plan that they check their email with won't care that their service is NAT'd, they just care about their emails...

OK, what is AFRNIC getting out of this new deal then? Because they would be losing future resources without gaining anything. Francisco

Bad news everyone. So IANA published the scripts they use to generate allocation requests -  https://github.com/icann/ipv4-recovery-algorithm/blob/master/recover-ipv4-space The bad news is that i've gone ahead and run it, and it looks like each region is getting a /14. IP addresses available...

    BuyVM(Review) awful experience

There's a lot of people that we invest a lot of time into that pay us very little. This is our work and if we're sitting on our thumbs spinning around during business hours, that's not helping anyone. We have no problem doing fully custom installs (i've done anycast setups w/ full keepalive and...

    BuyVM(Review) awful experience

I'll be making a reply or two in here, that's it, since I tried my best by you already. Here's some key points: - When you originally submitted your sales ticket for the plan, the system informed you that our sales & billing departments were closed for the day as well as what time things were...

    The cesspit / chat thread.

I guess it comes down to if he only lists locations that have it, or can a provider get listed so long as they have IPV6 somewhere in their setup. If it's the former, then yes, it'll be a fairly big blow to CC since there's many of their locations that are unlikely to get V6 (Atlanta, San Jose...

Summer just started... Cortex Networks scam

That's who I was thinking of as I read this thread! For sure sounds like him. I talked to him a couple times since he insisted on sending me his resume and he claimed that it was someone impersonating him, etc. Francisco

Crissic has been acquired by Quadranet

Because there's probably a good chance that the brand sold for a lot less than wholesale market IP pricing. There's lots of brands out there that barely get by that are sitting on some space. If their sales/signups take a turn for the worst they'll be looking to sell, and I doubt they're going...

Site5 and Verio accquired by EIG

A well known provider was at hostingcon a week or two ago and told me that there was 'lots of brands' shopping for buyers, many well known. This won't be the last for EIG, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few LE brands show up in their grasps soon. Francisco

How to Stop DDOS and SYN FLOODING on VPS

OVH's protection is really poor. If it doesn't match an ACL you're getting it in the face. We have a lot of people that get our services to GRE to OVH. OP, you may be interested in the same, it shouldn't add too much latency. Francisco

Any other Hostress customers migrated from Chicago to Buffalo with no notice?

That's a pretty damn stupid plan. I'm scared to even ask what the going price on it was. Francisco

    CrocWeb using OVH?

I thought they went to OVH after all the DDOS issues they had? Maybe it was only temporary, or they have some legacy gear there and put the rest elsewhere. Check the ownership of the IP addresses? Francisco
