I love quiet Saturdays like this... nothing to worry about but what kind of meat to put in the slow cooker, what kind of beer to drink while doing it, and if I should take a nap before or after I mow the lawn...

I love my city.  Homeless dude exposing himself downtown, right in the middle of the Eastbank Esplanade.  Shortly thereafter he goes into a Honey Bucket to pee, witnesses lock him in and tip it over: That. Had. To. Suck...

I never got to try "New Coke". Likely would have thought it sucked like the rest of the planet, but we were a Pepsi house then.  The family that lived behind us was Mormon.  Apparently they've got something in their faith that prohibits caffeine, but when one of them had the flu or a stomach...

Real men drank this in the 90s...   ;) There's a vid floating around YouTube of this dude drinking a 20 year old jug of the stuff ... promptly spewing his guts all over his kitchen.  My buddy gave me a bottle of Orbitz a few years ago, told me if I ever needed a quick $500, all I had to do...

Mexican Coke (the drinkable kind -- no, really) still uses real sugar I think.  I got some Pepsi Throwback a couple years ago just so I could regress into my childhood... well, I'd hoped.  Tasted nothing the fuck like 1985.  Felt screwed.  Do they make a Coca Cola with real sugar?  The Mountain...

    BBU vs ZMCP?

    Thanks for that!

    BBU vs ZMCP?

Also, the fact that the controller supports hybrid configurations is a plus as I've been tossing around the idea of deploying a hybrid the last couple of months.

    BBU vs ZMCP?

%s/peak/peek :) Yeah, that's the impression I got after reading through this - http://www.adaptec.com/nr/rdonlyres/e2c8f4f4-921e-4e7d-90be-0ef41aa6557c/0/intro_zmcp.pdf I see these caps charge instantly at boot time.  That's much nicer than having to disable write-back for a couple days to run...

    BBU vs ZMCP?

I've recently introduced another machine into the production environment.  My preferred HDD configuration for OpenVZ has always been either 4x4TB or 4x2TB REs, with BBU.  This newest machine is for :gasp: KVM, and was provisioned with ZMM cache protection rather than BBU. TBH this is the first...

    [OVZ] 042stab107.x kernels swap-happy?

I wonder if they messed around with vswap.  People are reporting that vswap is being used on containers when --swappages 0:0 is set on the node for certain CTs.  Hmph.

    [OVZ] 042stab107.x kernels swap-happy?

Just wondering if anybody else is seeing larger than average kswapd utilization on the CPU / larger than normal swap consumption on the host in the recent OpenVZ kernels (107.x/108.x)? Checking bugzilla too... occurring on two machines now that had perfectly normal utilization in prior...

How To: Determining how many 'VPS neighbors' you have or if you are on an oversold OpenVZ node

I've seen that slabbed or not thing, it just runs the same commands I would anyhow :P Can't argue with CPU features.

How To: Determining how many 'VPS neighbors' you have or if you are on an oversold OpenVZ node

There are actually a few commands you can throw at a container that can tell you whether or not it's nested inside Xen/KVM, but that can be for a rainy day or something. :)

How To: Determining how many 'VPS neighbors' you have or if you are on an oversold OpenVZ node

The mixed feelings on this are totally cool, and expected, really. I actually agree with a lot of what Joe said. I just wish we had a happy medium...just some little way of saying "Yes, we run OVZ but we're not being blatant f***ing idiots about the number of containers running on our nodes."...
