    WHMCS IP Blacklist Monitor

Is a WHMCS module really needed? Perhaps just run this script on a cron, create tickets using WHMCS api (or by emailing in using a spoofed email from) and use a small database to not repeated reports...

EFF Certificate Authority - Free SSLs! - Lets Encrypt

I don't see a problem with it being accepted. Its probably the primary reason for the 2015 release (technically its not complex to run a C.A). The main risk I see is easy access to certificates for impersonation but I am sure they work around this through stringent validation of authorized...

Run Linux Commands from Web Browser

PSA: In case its not immediately obvious given the sarcastic and humorous responses this is a terrible idea. If you find this thread via Google or anything, don't do this. This kind of reminds me of shellinabox, which is borderline as bad of an idea. $ sudo apt-get install openssl shellinabox

List of providers who offer DDoS protection.

Nope, Staminus Channel in all 2 (to be 3) locations. Staminus L.A -> LV Staminus NY -> NJ Staminus NL -> LU

List of providers who offer DDoS protection.

Well I am not a VPS provider, but I am providing DDoS protection. Buyvm uses staminus not cnservers.

QR Codes - Using them yourself or just another dead fad?

I use them occasionally when I want to continue reading some article, fanfiction or other website on my phone but CBF finding it in a google search (or know it would be too difficult to find).

Datashack appears to have entered the VPS market

From a features standpoint I don't see how they can hope to compete with the budget cloud offers (DO, Vultr etc) available now. From a resources standpoint sure it's a competitive offer... But its a race to the bottom if that's your only/main selling point. Best of luck to them though.

    Inbox by GMail - Thoughts?

Haha I missread this. Google inbox (the upgrade thing for gmail), not gmail's inbox.

    Inbox by GMail - Thoughts?

I use Gmail for aggregation of all my mail accounts, and have for many years (since Gmail was invite only....). Personally I quite like the threading.... The system shows quite a lot of intelligence (priority mail, auto categorization lab, smart thread matching for threading) plus there are...

How can I fix packet flooding

@rds100 Correct in an ideal world. That kind of hardware should be on a trash heap but often isnt. From my experience alot of the switches on the edge are quite old and poorly specced with a lot of companies (of course not everyone runs their network in this manner). Until recently one company I...

How can I fix packet flooding

At 100kPPS+ unless you have very good hardware (and a company willing to let you run wild on the switching hardware) your best bet is to get DDoS protection. There is no way to reduce the load on the upstream switching hardware by way of software.

Hungary Proposes New Tax on Its Internet Traffic

Saw that coming. If there is one thing (and likely the only thing) successful politicians need to know well its how to get elected (or stay elected)

    Spider Duo

For java & a real browser? or what? Probably the best auto-install script would be to disable the IE enhanced security mode....

    Spider Duo

Seems obvious when you put it like that.... and a good use for some Vultr credit.

    Spider Duo

I find they are horrible when you are located 350-400ms from the server, KVM has never worked on the spiders for EU servers in my case. Double typing etc. There might be some firmware or configuration thats not set, but yeah... Im not a fan.

Linux swappiness - how do you set optimal value?

Your hard drive type is a very important factor, you don't want to be killing SSD's with swapping if you dont have to be. I usually use a value of 1 on SSD servers, or when there is a normally excessive amount of ram. Its based on limited testing and experiences with the default values. Values...

KVM I/O question for VPS providers

    Cloud Deployment

Definitely sounds interesting. I've bookmarked it to keep an eye on it. Even outside of what I was looking for in this thread, my servers are updated & installed by an ever increasing collection of bash scripts (each update being a bash script to be applied in sequence), and occasionally a full...
