    anyNode KVM Beta

How long will Beta last?  I wouldn't mind trying something in Detroit.

Best way to backup whole OVZ vps?

Well, if you're provide will make you a snapshot that's probably the easiest way.  I usually just backup my config files that are important like nginx, php, etc.. You can do tar -cxzf backup.tar.gz /   to backup the entire file system but there is going to be some files that are not exactly the...

Power equipment, SuperX, Dual Opterons - FiberHub

Do the servers have IPMI?  What kinda power do they suck down?

    CPU Fair Use

I have not experienced this problem but I'm sure you are monitoring far more servers.  I have an Observium install running on a RamNode 128Mb SSD, it is monitoring about 20 servers.

    Quiting smoking.

I'm on Day 3....I've found that, aside from right when I wake up in the morning and have my coffee, the day time isn't too bad. It's not until  night time when my cravings kick in and I lay awake thinking about the 24 hour gas station that's 1.5 blocks away.

    Anyone using vestaCP? vestaCP review?

Not entirely sure, half of their forum seems to be Russian.

    Best email app for Android?

I'm really loving the KitKat Email app, it's essentially like the GMail app with the branding stripped out.

    Anyone using vestaCP? vestaCP review?

I am.  I installed it to test the email system.  Only issue I have is with Outlook.com sending things to spam but as far as I know they do that with almost every mail that they don't have whtielisted.  Works fine with GMAIL and my other email servers.

    Anyone using vestaCP? vestaCP review?

Well, it's certainly easy to setup.  Took maybe 5 minutes max, compared to the hour cPanel takes on it's first install.  I'm working on getting a few WordPress blogs setup, I was going to run then without a control panel but I've decided to give this a shot.   +1 for supporting Debian! The...

ProvisionHost Sold, New Owners Won't Honor Paid For $48 Annual Plans

Find out where they're incorporated and look into your legal options for finding forcing them to honor your contract or get a refund.  Canada has relatively good consumer protection laws.

Level3 Public DNS Servers - Search Engine Redirect

Strange.   I haven't installed any Toolsbars or anything silly like that, in fact I just did a full system scan using two different anti-viruses.   This is what I'm seeing on failed lookups, and I certainly never saw this before.  I couldn't really find any info about it on Google so I'm at a...

Level3 Public DNS Servers - Search Engine Redirect

Does anyone use Level3's public DNS? 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 I've been using them forever because they were always better then ISP default servers.  I know a lot of people are using Google's DNS now but I've found Level3 had a better latency in most cases, and since I've been using them for years, I...

    VPS Spamming Sales Companies

I'm confused, are you looking for a list of companies who spam you with offers by obtaining your email from a hacked db, or.. ?

OK, which one of you stole my credit card...

They don't, which is too bad because it was  an excellent program.  Many banks offering this kind of thing, I know Citibank does. Prepaid cards are a bit more tricky because if you go the regular route and buy prepaid visa's you'll end up with a stack of  cards that each have a tiny balance left...

    Windows Phone Security Apps

I don't think a firewall will help you very much as most connections are probably blocked by the carrier.  Why do you need a mobile anti-virus?  Don't download any sketchy apps and you should be fine.

OK, which one of you stole my credit card...

Very few VPS providers around here actually accept credit cards, even fewer process the cards themselves.

    Paleo diet

I drink a decent amount of caffeine throughout the day but when I really need it is the mornings, I'm not what one would call an early riser...  It's hard to do tech support at 8am, without caffeine I'd be telling people to "rm -rf /" just so I didn't have to deal with them.

    Consumer perspective: openvz vs KVM

OpenVZ is usually faster and works for 99% of cases, it's also generally cheaper because the hosts can oversell to a higher degree without having negative effects on server performance. I like KVM when I'm developing something, or if it's something I want total control over as a KVM VPS can be...

    Paleo diet

The part about 32 becoming 34 hit home for me, as like most of in this industry, I could stand to lose a bit of weight.   The wife and I have been trying to eat a little bit healthier like trying eating salad at least 3 nights a week, not going out to eat as often, etc..  The part I'm having a...
