Could start by filtering LET by tags with tutorials and asking for permission to repost in the new wiki. Not sure if it would be easier/better to just start with new content completely, though the fact is it will be probably lacking for a while without prepopulating it with known working...

Maybe a tab at the top of the website that says Guides or Tutorials, and users can be trusted to possibly add new tutorials? Or something completely open for anyone to change like an embedded wiki?

Im sure the multiple ideas by themselves would be fairly nice, but meshed together could be fairly incredible. But as you, I would be considered a noob, but hey never hurts to learn something new ;)

I see so instead of JUST a database with information about hosts and datacenters, it would be a full blown web application that can ping for up-times, latency from different locations and feed that back to the user with a full report on what datacenters would be suitable to them.  Seems like...

Some sort of VPS site aggregation service.  Bring in LowEndTalk, LowEndBox, vpsBoard, WHT VPS, (not familiar with any others).  Then display it in a really nice fashion with maybe some sort of single sign on so you can reply to topics from all those sites directly from this aggregation site...

This actually sounds like a really neat idea. Maybe include a reverse lookup, and it can relate IP blocks to certain providers. Say if a website is down frequently, a reverse lookup could tell what host to avoid maybe and what datacenters they use. I've actually wanted a tool similar to this...

Yeah i stumbled upon everyone being admin, like 5 minutes before everything going to hell, I was trying to message an admin. But the hacker disabled the site :(
