    No Ad DNS Project?

Edit: I determined this post does not add value to this thread and have blanked its contents. Instead, I suggest writing a script that converts hosts files to nameserver format for loading.

    Low resource blogging platform

I use pelican. It doesn't have all the features of a dynamic blog (live user posts, tracebacks, what-have-you), but in return, it serves pages as fast as your httpd will go. It's been working well for me so far.

    BuyVM OpenVZ 128MB (NY)

Basically, they don't underallocate you for anything in particular. A lot of hosts might cap your numprocs lower or limit your kmem size or your tcp socks/file handles to something you might actually hit. Buyvm doesn't; they set the params at a reasonable level and really only cap your ram, just...

    No Ad DNS Project?

A quick google search says someone already does this... http://pgl.yoyo.org/as/

Using lighttpd as a webservce and proxy

Yes, lighttpd is still actively developed and bugfixed.  Regarding php configuration, I prefer fpm, which you can enable like so (assuming you're still using tcp fcgi and not a unix socket): fastcgi.server = ( ".php" =>   ( "localhost" =>     (       "host" => "127.0.0.1",       "port" =>...

    BuyVM OpenVZ 128MB (NY)

This is the /proc/user_beancounters from my NY ovz128: The uname shows the following, which is the mask for their 2.6.18 ovz kernel: Linux lovecraft 2.6.32-pony6-3 #1 SMP Tue Mar 13 07:31:44 PDT 2012 i686 GNU/Linux

    Ideas and suggestions for vpsBoard

I feel this is a bad approach and is bound to drive more providers away than encourage community participation and offers in general. That being said, I would like to know that information, specifically loading/overcommit factors (yeah right), as well as hardware node specs, shared uplink speeds...

Stallion 2 - pictures and daily updates :)

10 ACL entries is more than sufficient for my needs, more than twice sufficient actually. Thanks, boss.

Stallion 2 - pictures and daily updates :)

Dearest Pony Lord; As a paranoid KVM user and moderately long-term customer of yours, I'm one of those folks advocating turning off VNC after you're done with it and only turning it on as needed. As security conscious as your team seems to be, I'm sure you've got some monitoring in place to...

    Changing Operating Systems through SSH

Debootstrap is how you build debian ovz templates. You might have to resort to some jiggery (chroot to a directory unused by LSB, mount -o bind / to /chroot/targetdir), but it will work if you got in through vzctl enter.

Bash script to check if tun/tap is enabled and if so do 'stuff' ?

Your first link doesn't work. First, your case check is wrong. the string "lscpu" is never going to result in VT-x. Perhaps you meant the following? case `lscpu` in which still isn't really right, because case expects a full string match unless you're using wildcards, like so: case `lscpu`...

nginx - Redirect visitors based on IP-List

Assuming CSF wasn't going to tank your incoming requests and you still wanted to solve this problem of ACLing based on a dynamic list of incoming IP addresses, I would set up a server block in nginx (vhost) that directs you to the desired (or perhaps for the client, undesired) page. Then, I...

    What providers do you use?

10x buyvm or so, mostly small OVZs, couple medium KVMs 2x RamNode medium OVZs 1x A Small Orange, which is more of a managed provider. ~2.5x EC2 instances bunch of dedis. Haven't really had problems with anyone so far. Obviously, I like the performance/price at buyvm.

    Online Radio

For a quick and dirty implementation, ices/ices2 are sufficient, but if you really want to set up streaming, you should look into mpd (music player daemon, playlist support, manual queueing etc), liquidsoap (a very flexible audio programming framework), or one of the many linux radio automation...
